This year's LSU football team? Maybe. We've won more modern era championships in the SEC than anyone not named Alabama though, with a win % to match so you can't be talking in general. Wasn't Arkansas a top 10 team with John L Smith when they lost to ULM and the wheels fell off? It seems like there was a terrible ND team in the past decade that started out super high who would be in the running as well.

they weren't dominating last year. They beat Auburn by 3, Alabama by 5, and the Texas game was close. Their defense ranked #8 in the conference. Auburn won a national championship in 2010 in a similar season. Lot of close games and qbs that had a very good year. 2 years later they fired the coach. LSU last year had the boy wonder offensive coach who didn't stick around long.
