Georgia has the worst among teams that have made it at least five times.

Welp, that does it. Tigers by 50.

We've made it 9 times. That's third best behind only Bama and UF.
Obviously several have made it and didn't win at all. Arkansas has made it the most without a win. Three times.

Dang, the last 5 years have been a blur. I didn’t realize we’re up to 10.

Makes sense that in order for LSU to make the sec championship game we had to go through a tough schedule, so we had to be good to get there.
Hopefully this game is similar to the lsu Tennessee game in 01 when we can shock some people.

And Georgia lost to LSU what, 3 times?

Yep, and the underdog in all four meetings.

Over the years lsu-Georgia has had some epic games. I’ve always enjoyed the rivalry. I think both programs were always respectful of each other which is how it should be

Maybe this is the year that uga can do something after a win vs lsu

2003: LSU win
-LSU had 1 loss and was ranked 3rd entering the game
-UGA had 2 losses and was ranked 5th entering the game
-LSU had already beaten UGA earlier in the year
-By pretty much any objective measure LSU was the better team, not only before hand but would go on to win national title
2005: UGA win
-LSU had 1 loss and was ranked 3rd entering the game
-UGA had 2 losses (only 1 with Shockely at QB) and was ranked 13th entering the game
-You could call the teams a tossup as far as who was better entering the game. LSu did not have a bye week which likely hurt them heading into this final weekend
-UGA started red hot and would go on to win comfortably
2011: LSU win
-LSU entered undefeated and ranked #1
-UGA entered with 2 losses and ranked 12th
-This was unanimously LSU's best football team ever up to that point in time.
-UGA started 0-2 before beating a bunch of nobodies to win the east. It was a miracle the game was as close as it was for 2 quarters before LSU pulled away en route to a title game appearance. UGA would lose 4 games this year
2019: LSU win
-LSu entered undefeated and ranked #1
-UGA entered with 1 loss and ranked 4th
-LSU would end up one of the 3 or 4 best teams ever fielded in CFB on the way to being national champs. UGA had james coley calling plays, and any prayer of staying competitive went out the window due to george pickens and deandre swift being out or injured.
Black and white stats are one thing but I also like looking into the "why" behind them. We do have a piss poor record against LSU in this game but when you actually look it, in 3 of the 4 games they absolutely should have won, and in 2 of the games we had no businses even keeping it within 3 touchdowns. Only 1 game have the teams been on pretty darn equal footing, and that's the game we won.
How about 2022? Well, you can draw your own conclusions on which team is better this year. I think taht history shows that when UGA and LSU play in the SECCG the "better team" wins every time.

I’ve always been bummed we’ve never met UF in the SECCG.
Especially this season…

Is this a pre melt, just in case?

What part of that exactly did you interpret as a melt? Sorry for posting...historical facts?

2003 was pretty equal footing. A lot of the motivation for LSU in the championship game was all the talk about how LSU should’ve lost the 1st game and how UGA was the better team. There was a lot of similar media sentiment agreeing
Actually led to the Trev Albert line that LSU ended up using in its hype vid “Georgia was the better team last time. Georgia’s still gonna be the better team this time.”
I remember the hype vid being based around the Ali movie and the Ali/Liston fights. I very much remember the sentiment being that LSU lucked into the first win and wouldn’t be so lucky in the rematch. I’d definitely say it was equal footing

maybe, but I don't really agree personally. We had more losses than LSU, were ranked lower, and had already lost to LSU. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but the fact they won the title I think solidifies that they wer ethe better team, even if it may have been closer comparitively heading into the game.

I put less than zero stock in what media talking heads say trying to hype up a game

Y’all statistically dominates us In the first meeting. I think y’all like doubled our yardage. I definitely felt lucky to win game 1 as everything other than the scoreboard said we shouldn’t have won
The way they were looking at, lsu should have two losses and uga should have 1. Honestly wouldn’t be surprise if UGA was favored in the opening spread for the 2003 seccg

that was early, adn both teams honestly palyed crappy. It was 10-3 with like 3 minutes left lol
I'm talking about heading into the SECCG, early December, I think it's pretty clear that LSU was the better team at that speicfic point.
Posted on 11/17/22 at 9:28 am to WG_Dawg
I don’t think there was any indicator up to that point that would suggest LSU significantly outclassed UGA leading into that game. LSU dominance of that game was pretty surprising. Guess we just remember things pretty differently
