Didn't watch. Must've been working, but just went back and looked at the recap and it was 37-13 after three quarters and LSU had like 210 yards of total offense at that point. Was Tennesee's defense really the 85 Bears and Tennessee's offense gods gift to football? Or did LSU underestimate them?

As a Georgia fan the Tennesee/LSU outcome on the road is actually more worrisome than the Tennessee/Alabama outcome at home smh.

Laid an egg. Muffed punts, fumbled kickoffs, and Jayden didn’t hit his swag yet. Would be a much better game if LSU gets a chance again in the SEC championship.

Started off with a special teams turnover. Before people were in their seats Tennessee was already up 7-0. Went downhill from there. Ended up getting our arse beat. Hope their fans enjoyed Tiger Stadium.

Special teams pooped their pants immediately. Fumbled the opening kick off which Tennessee quickly turned into a TD. Then the offense punted which was returned to midfield and quickly turned into a touchdown.

Offense was missing our left tackle and lost our left guard mid game. Combine that with the fact we fell so far behind the offense got one dimensional and you've got a mess. Plus Tennessee is just better. Think you've got to be prepared to win a back and forth shootout with them and the offense just wasn't ready plus you can't get down in our usual multi score hole

Tennesse is a top 2 team.

They are awesome this year.

LSU is in a year 1 rebuild.

As a Vol we still love our LSU friends and are willing to give them another chance.

Game got away from LSU early. Literally -- fumbled the opening kickoff.

If LSU gets the Vols again in Atlanta, it will be much, much closer, believe that.

I disagree here.

Tennesse is just better than us.

Period.

We didnt lay an egg, Tennessee is just plain better than us this year.

Hat tipped.

All you can hope is to learn from that arse kicking and improve which is exactly what we did.

The weekend prior, Tenn had a bye and LSU had an awful grind-it-out nailbiter against Auburn. We spotted them their first TD after taking the opening kickoff to the returner’s face, and we failed a couple 4th down conversions in the first half. Between rest/preparation time and the bounces of the ball, everything went Tennessee’s way through the first half.

Our QB Daniels can completely stunt our offense sometimes by refusing to cut the ball loose on schedule, which to some degree was fueled by unreliable OL play as our new starters gelled. But from the second half of UT through OM, he’s played much much better. Their defense deserves some credit for holding us to so few points, but the biggest variables have been the OL picking up stunts/blitzes and Daniels trusting the rhythm of the passing game as a result. If we rematched them later this year, I think it would be more of a track meet.

They came ready to play, we did not.

Simple as that.

Yeah, we really did.

All kinds of mistakes and problems LSU had.

Still, even with a healthy line we wouldn't have won. We could have scored more points than we did, but we were losing that game. They're just better than LSU this year.

A decent portion of that result was self-inflicted, but a big portion of it is also attributable to the fact that Tennessee is suddenly GOOD!

Don't "misunderestimate them," as George W. would say. And good luck to y'all this weekend. I live about 40 miles from Athens and I can deal with the UGA braggadocio, but fans of a winning Tennessee team are friggin' unbearable! They're worse than we are when LSU wins a natty!

Why not both? Tennessee is good, better than LSU. But LSU didn't play their best game.

Yes they are but...

We basically spotted them 17 Points in the 1st quarter with our putrid Special Teams play..

Yes.. they still would have beat us but it would have been a more competitive game than what it was at the time..

A combination of poor special teams play and being aggressive on 4th downs that didn't convert.

Muffed opening kick, Tennessee scored quick. Went three and out and let Tennessee return it basically to the red zone. Managed to hold them to a FG and then we drove to their red zone and failed on 4th down. Tennessee goes down and gets another FG, LSU goes down and fails another 4th down at midfield and then UT scores a TD first play next drive. 20-0 already

LSU scored a TD to make it 20-7, then manages to force a Tennessee punt. But then towards the end of the half we fail ANOTHER 4th down and instead of taking it to the half 20-7 Tennessee gets a quick FG before half, and then it's 23-7 and they get the ball back to start the next half, which they promptly got and scored another TD to make it 30-7 and then the game was basically over by that point.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but I didn't mind BK going for it on the 4th downs except maybe that last one, the yardage was too much and he basically gifted Tennessee a free FG. They just couldn't convert them but he knew Tennessee had a high powered offense and would need to match it and try to keep them off the field as much as he could. Give Tennessee credit they stood tall and made plays on those 4th downs and made LSU pay. They were the better team.

LSU special teams did not help things, but Tennessee was really good. No excuses in the end they kicked our azz.

LSU is a different teams as far as production now so I wound like to see a second game.

the team has been completely different since that game.

Kelly has been masterful at adjustments, looks like they learned a ton from that one.

No one is mentioning that one of our best offensive lineman went down the day before, which completely fricked the LSU offense. Not sure if we could beat Tennessee if we faced them again but the game would be much closer.

ETA: lsuhoohoo actually said something about it.
