LSU fans - why not wait until the end of the season to fire Miles?

Looking back, we can say LSU would probably still have lost to Alabama and Florida with Les Miles as head coach. Also, Les would have continued to keep his trend of beating Texas A&M intact.

So, the question is why couldn't LSU just have waited until the end of the season and have a natural break from Les Miles? Is it because LSU was afraid Ed Orgeron would have been stolen away to be a head coach somewhere else?

I get that LSU fans think Miles wasn't a great coach. But, the quick firing seemed punitive rather than well-conceived. Agree?

It should have happened the season before. The real screw up was keeping him coming into this year

Yep and some school could give him five years to turn their program around. None are

Because he was told to do something - change the offense for the upcoming season - and he didn't

The Florida Zook example is why schools fire head coaches with a good part of the season left to play. The idea is to conduct a proper search and then hire a premiere candidate.

That had me expecting LSU would do a national search and then hire the best available coach. But then Alleva made a complete joke of that rationale. He did not put together or hire a group to identify candidates, he became enraged when candidates wanted a lot of money, and then he hired the worst coach in the history of Ole Miss.

There are no good answers for any of those choices. Alleva has to be fired before LSU's athletic department will have any chance of being functional, let alone excellent.

Why wait?

Obvious decisions should be made quickly and that's what happened.

Also plenty of time for Alleva to vet the 120 other coaches then settle.

Joe Alleva is the worst AD in the sec. maybe one day LSU will get its grad back from a&m. The AD I'm talking about.

He should have been let go at the end of last
Season. After he was fired this year the AD should have hired a search firm. If he got mad about the amount of money good coachs make in 2016 he has no business running a search for a school in the SEC.
LSU has gone from a top 10 team to a also ran. Sad

Herman was coming. Till Texas opened up. That is his dream job. Still you try to convince Herman even if you fail. Then open up the search and find the next best man and don't just be lazy so you can say you have your man. A search firm should of been used. Alleva only talked to Jimbo and Herman during season and really only after Florida. No one else was vetted. It's really sad. Alleva is the problem and I don't care how bad O is or Johnny Jones. Don't want one more Alleva hire. He is the first that needs to go.

Same can be said about LSU. Who wants to be the OC there. This debacle is getting worse by the day. Losing recruits isn't helping

I think they wanted to lock up a great candidate before the rest of the teams that would be searching.
