Expecting someone to be as good as TM7 is an unfair bar

Over a 2nd Rd NFL draft pick?? Lol

Greedy was a bum??
No, Greedy wasn't a bum. But a whole lot of sources have suggested that Fulton would have started ahead of him in 2017, had he not been suspended. Fulton played well while shaking the rust off last year, and should be an All-American this year (and quite likely will be drafted higher than Greedy was).

Stingley, meanwhile, comes in with hype we haven't seen since Patrick Peterson, and the hope is that he makes an instant impact.

Combine that with returning Delpit at safety, and the secondary should be as good as ever.

I agree. I didn’t say I expect that of him, just that I believe he will be that kind of impact player.

He has similar ball instincts.

Any fan of any team that consistently finishes in the top fifteen in recruiting has a legitimate reason to be confident. Regardless of what conference they are in. LSU’s recruiting alone should make them confident.
Just to expand on that-

it's not the superstar draft picks, it's the other guys. Debo Jones, Duke Riley, etc- I considered them plug-and-play LSU linebackers. Have little doubt the current guys are just as good. That equates to "2nd rd talent", which is a bit amazing when you look at it that way.
Same thing for DBs, I've seen guys who I thought had big holes in their game, start in the NFL and make plays.

Now, when you couple that concept to a legitimate offense with a viable QB, it's not hard to think this team can win at the highest levels. LSU has challenged for titles with QBs who wouldn't start at 95% of D1 schools. You get somebody in the top 20% and it feels awfully hopeful.
