Both defenses are legit and are at or near the Bama level.
The offenses are not and I say that based on this game plus the others they have played.

Auburn's offense is probably better overall, but both teams just don't run the ball well enough to win the conference. Gus always seems to find a RB before it's over, but I"d be a little worried if I was an AU fan from what I've seen. This looks like a use the pass to set up the run type team all the way.

I think Burrow is an improvement at QB even if the stats say otherwise. He just makes the play when he has to and doesn't seem to be bothered by the moment. Someone said his stats were comparable to Franks at UF, but his ability to make the play when he has to is night and day different. That said, LSU is not as good at running the ball this year and so the drop off there leaves them at a push compared to last year offensively.

Things can change. Both teams can improve. But right now I'd say both are a distant third and fourth in the SEC. MSU may be better, but I'll wait to see them play a top 25 opponent.

The problem with the hurry up designed offense is that you are always left in a conundrum when in a typical burn clock situation. That's especially true when you have little run game to speak of. Kerryon helped a great deal last year in these situations. There is no Kerryon this year.

As far as the penalties, the no call on Greedy was terrible. I admit that. I get why so many are upset. It was a terrible miss. But I don't really see the idea that the refs were constantly letting LSU get aways with PI and constantly calling it on Auburn. There were many times they could have called it on Auburn based on the technical definition.

They didn't seem to call the hand fighting stuff. The calls were actual holds preventing a WR from using both hands to catch the ball or defensive holding preventing a WR from breaking away once the DB knew he was beat. If I'm missing something I'll be glad to look again. I watched the 40 minute Youtube version so I didn't get all the replays. I did check out Greedy's hold late in the third on replay and the final PI that set up the FG.

I think if you'll look, LSU has constantly given Alabama's offense fits compared to the other teams in the league over Saban's reign. LSU has held Alabama to 24 or less points in 8 of their last 10 meetings in regulation. This defense looks similar to what they normally put on the field. LSU's problem with Bama has not been defensive.

Auburn has most of what made them great on defense back. And they held Bama to their lowest scoring output last season. I'm not sure why you're lost.

Maybe LSU but Auburn has zero players that can rush the passer. This defense is missing Jeff Holland.

You are tied for the lead in the conference in sacks. Six of the ten have come against top ten power five teams. Not sure what you expect. I guess UGA should be shaking in our boots this week. We're dead last.

Could be wrong, but you'll likely have to play better offensively to beat UGA. And most certainly you will have to in order to beat Bama. As I said in an earlier post, that's been your problem with Bama for awhile now.

LSU and Auburn haven’t faced Tua yet. If they hold him to 24 points, I’ll be impressed.

UGA couldn’t do that in one half hardly.

Knew I would get creamed in this post by LSU fans (who want everyone to say they are back to Saban early Les teams) and Bama fans (who think no unit by anyone should be mentioned in the same breath with them). Feel this post is more than fair and gave LSU and Auburn both props. If you see no weakness in your team at this point, doubtful you ever will.
Nothing bad at all said about Bama. Obviously the measuring stick in the conference and nation right now.

I’d feel ok with the prospects of AU having a really nice rest of the season if not for one problem that is very unlikely to be fixed. O-Line is REALLY bad. D is good but I think we might be overstating a bit. It seems like the sexy thing for football analysts to say that “Auburn has one of the best front 7’s in the country”. Solid I think, but best in the country? Based on what? My eye test has our front 7 3rd or 4th in the conference and our OL near the bottom.

Not AU’s year.

And neither Bama nor UGA have faced a team with a defense.

True, LSU will prolly give Tua his first second half action since the Natty. Can’t wait.

I agree with you. I literally can’t wait for night games vs Georgia and Bama.

Magic’s back.

It was a fair post other than the Greedy Williams shite. AU got away with an end zone mugging on Jefferson earlier and got a favorable call on a fumble, plus two chicken shite penalty calls.
However your point about the LSU offense are accurate. The O has to improve to win the bigger games remaining. However, sometimes teams have the lightbulb come on in finding an offensive rhythm and identity.

If you'll read it, I said I thought Auburn got away with more as a whole than LSU did. But come on. Greedy absolutely held that Auburn WR on that one play and got away with it. Not by any means was I trying to say that cost them the game.

As far as the fumble, watch that again. At no point do you see an LSU guy with the ball. And your guys hardly motioned, if they ever did, that you possessed the ball. At the end, on camera, it's an Auburn player holding the ball.
