Listening to a gambling podcast (bangthebook.com), one of their guests claims LSU and Penn State have the largest home field advantage worth 5 points at night.
I will be making my first trip to death valley for the Georgia game in october, but i am highly suspicious of a 5 point atmoshere.
So i guess my question is what makes tiger stadium such an advantage?
Just tens of thousands of inebriated cajuns?

Yes. But if you jump out on them in the first half, they leave. See Dak in 2014. The whole crowd almost missed the comeback.

It's a great experience. Awesome atmosphere, great traditions. My favorite SEC road game. Lots of fun.
Like most things, it's a little overrated. It gets loud, and it's a college football bucket list item if you're a fan of the sport. But I think it changed a little when they did the most recent renovation. It's just not like it used to be. Or maybe it's Eddie O's fault.

For a big game against a ranked opponent like Bama, Florida, Auburn or Georgia, it'll be rocking. For most games, especially non-conference games, the attendance lags and starts to clear out toward the end of the 3rd quarter. The atmosphere isn't what it was 10-15 years ago, as it's a more corporate money grab now with more piped in music and company tickets etc. For a big game like UGA, you'll be in for a treat. That's the type of game that will be packed and loud till the end.
Y'all better keep lobbying the SEC to not allow beer sales, because that's one of the bigger reason for poor 2nd half attendance. If they start selling beer in the lower bowl, it'll be better than a 5pt advantage

I had always heard the top CFB stadiums (top 10 or so) were worth about a TD. 5 seems low overall to me

You need do do all the math
-5 = DV @ night
+7 = Ed O as coach
7 - 5 = 2
+2 should be your staring point

Death Valley home field is worth about 7 points in 1st Q, 6 points in 2nd Q, 5 points in 3rd Q and 2 points in 4th Q hence it averages out to right around 5 for whole game with the dwindling crowd

It really depends on the game at Death Valley. If it’s a little game it’s become very corporate and more of a show your face type thing and head back to the tailgate.
Having said that, it’s the best big game stadium in the country. If they start allowing beer I can only imagine what it will be like.

Night games in Tiger Stadium against ranked or at least high profile opponents are very special. The Bama games, the Florida games, Ole Miss game when Les Miles' mother passed the previous day, it's electric. It's why I keep renewing my tickets.
Remember, as Ray Charles said, the night time is the right time.

If this was true how bad would Bama have beaten LSU over the years.
