Louisiana has a $1 billion budget surplus plus another $1 billion in unused Federal funds. What should we do with all that money? Maybe get us a new foosball coach?

Maybe use it to fix your trash roads and help with hurricane/flood infrastructure instead of blowing it on worthless stuff

That’s where the Federal funds are going.

How about we fix actual issues?

Oh wait, we won’t even if we don’t use it on football, we will just upgrade the council on aging building, maintain the obsolete Nola pump infrastructure, and pay off BIL’s

At least with paying off the coaching staff’s buyouts we will get something in return unlike with our crooked politicians.

The state of Louisiana has never been known to use their funds wisely and they won’t start now.

I’d rather drive through a pothole than watch another lumbering tight end get wide open on a crossing route against LSU’s defense.

I am fully, painfully, depressingly aware.

I can change a tire. I can't just go grab another player or coach when needed.

We made a football stadium out of funds for dorm rooms.

This is the correct answer, but if history is our guide, Louisiana (like many other state governments) will use it to pay for studies and committees to suggest solutions to the actual issues that will never be implemented, or done in such a way that it doesn't actually fix anything.

But it makes those consultants and cronies of those entities a lot of money.

It will probably also be used to incur new debt while barely paying or slightly restructuring the old debt (that will also never be paid).

The state’s infrastructure, and the people decimated by the hurricane won’t see a dime of that money.

A wise man would probably invest in levies.

So we know that Louisiana definitely won't be doing that.

If we did that, we couldn't ask for more federal money down the road.

I used to say that Alabama politicians learn how to be corrupt at the hands of the masters... Louisiana politicians.
