Sorry Tigers, the snowflakes in California and Washington couldn't play at every location.

From Kendall Rogers:

Did some digging on this. One reason many West Coast schools are grouped together.

* California public schools could not go to regionals in Texas, North Carolina and Mississippi.

* Washington public schools could not go to North Carolina or Mississippi.

Those were two factors.

I don't understand that- what does that even mean? Would they burst into flames if they did?

Those state assemblies passed resolutions stating that no agencies would associate with the other states - Texas and NC because of bathroom laws and MS because of the flag

Their states don’t allow their schools to play in those states.

I get it that LSU vs Beavers gets ratings. But "snowflake" is no reason to hall NW St (La school) to Oregon as well. Made no sense to make those guys travel that far with all the other regions they could have been placed in.

What's the reasoning behind this?

Is it like how New York put a ban on traveling to Mississippi?? Because of politics..

That's really stupid. I was hoping a Stony Brook would be sent to a Mississippi school.

I wanted to see the committee put teams like this just to force their hand. Politics shouldn't dictate to how the teams match up.. at all. What if the championship had been in one of these states instead of Nebraska? They aren't going to tell the team no..

While I don't agree with this statement at all, I have to applaud this Olympic effort at trolling. Master class stuff

Shouldn't affect them. But what private school is going to risk pissing off their state legislature just to play baseball in NC, Texas, or MS?

So what happens if there’s a national championship game being hosted at one of those states? Do they just pull a Florida and forfeit?

Apparently the law doesn't apply to pre-determined sites. And no sites in those 3 states will be chosen as pre-determined until the laws change. NC stood to lose NCAA Basketball sites over this

I question the wisdom and appropriatness of prohibiting representatives of a state from engaging in otherwise lawful interaction or other economic activity in another, "deplorable", state.

But the laws are on the books.

The NCAA should in no way accommodate these laws. If a California school would otherwise go to a tournament in North Carolina but cannot/will not, then they should have to forfeit.

I still maintain that the sports industry would be better off to avoid politics as much as possible. I know there are times when the two will intersect but the less the better. Same for the entertainment industry.
Dragging politics into everything has taken a lot of the fun out of it.
