I regretfully never have nor ever will get the opportunity to serve this great country in the military, but I think it’s shameful to disparage those that have and that will in the future by participating in military training programs on college campus, shameful

Wait, let me get this straight. You're accusing the corndogs of starting hundreds of threads about aggy, of which I see few, yet your signature and occupation include LSU references? I do believe LSU occupies your brain, whatever is left of it. WTF is wrong with you?

You got a source for that, Zeke?

I used lsu.edu, and came up with this:

quote:

During World War II, LSU was one of the top four schools producing officers for the U.S. Armed Forces. (The other schools were Texas A&M, West Point, and Annapolis). LSU had more than 5,000 former students serving as officers, including 16 who achieved the rank of Brigadier General or higher. In all, 12,000 individuals from LSU served, and over 500 died in this great conflict.

Now, I'm assuming they picked "top four" because LSU was fourth. That's how this usually works. In other words, A&M was higher.

Not being content with assuming, I dug around for more specific information. I wanted to use a non-A&M source, though. First one I came to was from Clemson:

quote:

During World War II, Clemson supplied more Army officers than any other institution except for Texas A&M. A total of 6,475 served and 370 were killed in the line of duty. A Medal of Honor was presented to LTC Jimmy Dyess a member of Clemson's Class of ’31.

Seems there's a bit of a tickle-fight among schools to be #2 here.

Took a couple of minutes to find a source from the military itself. Air Force is close enough, I guess, so let's see what they say at the website for the AIR EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND:

quote:

Texas A&M’s Corps of Cadets is the largest of six senior military colleges in the United States. More than 14,000 Texas A&M Aggies served in World War II, more than the combined total of the United States service academies at that time.

Now, I've heard it was a larger number than 14,000, but I guess twice as much as any claims #2 is making is enough for now.

ETA: Turns out the 14K number is just the officers. The total number (including enlisted) is generally reported as well over 20K.

I served in the REAL military and actually picked up and fired a REAL M16. I was a REAL SERGEANT for a time. I have the DD214 and a gold star on my FLORIDA drivers license to prove it. I dont go around telling everybody about this because it was my honor and duty and choice to do it. But because of this I have earned the right call out Stolen Valor if I desire to.

1. LSU's greatest seasons ended in championships & one ended by the hands of the Crimson Emperor.
2. Championships are when you end the year as the best of the best, something A&M football has ZERO knowledge of
3. LSU fans will worry about the male cheerleader gang the week of the game
4. The streak will start again in 2019

So did I and this isn't stolen valor. You need to educate yourself on Chapter 103 of Title 10 and its authority towards ROTC.
