That's such a pathetic fan base, even pre-Covid.

They are in a tough spot. A lot of the alum don't stay in the area. Also, not an on-campus stadium and 20 miles in Miami can be a hellish commute. They really are a bandwagon dependent fanbase.

For the lack of in person fans, they carry a large loyal tv audience, especially in the Northeast. Nothing like the Blue Bloods but surprisingly large considering their mediocre performance. It is dwindling however.
Milquetoast football will run off even the most loyal fans.

Plus it is Miami and South Florida where sports are just one of a gazillion ways to amuse ones self.

Yep. It got me thinking what other programs/fanbases are similar to Miami in this regard.

I think Miami is clearly the worst, but what other P5 programs have that issue?.... Maybe USC? I can’t really even think of any others that are even close to Miami level of bandwagonness.

Yeah, that's a good question. I think it really takes a unique combination of off-campus stadium in an urban environment with a winning history. Not a ton of programs that check all those boxes.

I'm not familiar enough with USC to comment but they would appear to be the closest comparable.

I’m glad the Hogs took Franks over King after watching last night.

King’s passing is weak sauce.

I’ve never been around a worse fan base. They are the worst. Can’t even explain it unless you’ve seen it in person. Every fan base has bad apples but also has a lot of decent ones. Miami was nothing but bad apples.

Miami fans absolutely suck. Obnoxious. Rude. Disrespectful. And they look like felons. All of them.

I have been around Clemson, UGA, VT, FSU etc. fans and they don’t come close to the level of suck Miami fans are at.

Yep. They are really shitty, especially back when they were at the old orange bowl stadium.

WVU fans are the worst on game day. Miami fans are the worst to be around all the time. I lived down there for 2-3 years,if I never go back it'll be too soon.

Miami fans are by far the worst. The alumni are cool though but they are few.

I have a good friend that is a Canes fan.

When he told me they were going to allow 20% capacity for their games, I asked him where were they going to find the extra 10%.

Think about having to deal with all 12 of them every year. They get a good team along and they come out of the wood work for the game in Miami. Then, you have the slups that played there all on the sideline or trying to have another “look at me moment”. Worst fans ever

Miami has to rely on the casual and sidewalk fan; they have a very small student body. They have less undergrads than Vandy.
It's not cheap, either.

Oh, I'm old enough to remember something similar... Georgetown fans back in the 80's.

It's the same social appeal, but at least Georgetown is a real university. The U has, what, 10k undergrads? So that means it's completely sidewalk fans who like the gangster image.
