Major Applewhite might just be as good if UH gives it to him.
UH is in a recruiting talent mecca. Just keep sustaining the foundation Briles built, and they'll be fine. Utx screwed them over in blocking the big 12 move so Herman would be available. That'll start coming up again now the utx gets what they wanted from shutting it down this year. In the next few yrs as big 12 needs teams to be taken seriously.

I was telling them that all these recruits and transfers committing to play for Herman are going to get the bait and switch pulled on them

So Herman is going to start his career at Texas with a qb controversy? Buechele is a true FR that showed he should be the starter.

I think a healthy competition will be beneficial for both QB's .

Who cares? The kid couldn't beat out Kyler Murray as a true Freshman. The team never seemed to like him which is understandable, basically a rich kid punk. Family probably paid for the 5 star recruiting ranking b/c he is closer to a 3 star and was getting tossed around in high school. Maybe I am biased b/c he was rated above DW but I never saw anything special from the kid. I remember watching one of his HS games because of all the hype and thinking WTF, he is a 3 star. He can make some accurate short throws, limited mobility, questionable leadership and toughness, average decision making skills. Should be a very average QB wherever he decides to play.

Even if he graduates and is eligible next year... No way does he beat out Buechelle. Allen isn't all that great.

You are thinking like an Aggy. Ironic as OP apparently wrote the first & last chapter on "How to Think Like Aggy".
Just because Sumlin butchered a QB competition doesn't mean everyone else would.

Herman was the OC/QB coach when tOSU had 3 QB's in the mix & won a little thing called the National Championship.
