add Tennessee in 1998 and Auburn in 2010

5 different SEC teams have won championships with Georgia having played for one.

4 pages and no legitimate claims of schools other than Texas that can claim this.

This is why the SEC wanted TEXAS.

There is only 1 major sport. It is why you are joining the SEC.

#2 team to start the year next year. UK is back half of the top 10, but I'd bet Texas would be a unanimous pick. Big 12 is a better basketball conference, and nobody can argue that.

What is it now, 25-30 years since Arkansas has been relevant in basketball. Hope it helps you sleep at night.

Congrats on track though...

Too bad ESPN does not suit up and play on Saturdays down south.

Does women sports count, because Oklahoma's football and beastly softball program definitely qualifies them?

I think we are confusing "elite" with "blueblood".

There are probably four elite football programs. They would include LSU and Texas.

Blue blood is an entirely different animal. Blue Bloods are dominant in the top three or four categories... Winning Pct., National Titles etc... For the entirety of the history of the sport. Plus, they have, to a large degree, remained somewhat dominant for most of the past hundred years. They have not suffered a prolonged decline, aka Nebraska, and they would be named by most college football fans as the three to five most dominant throughout time.

That criteria certainly supports three schools as Bluebloods.

Bama
Oklahoma
Kentucky Basketball

The other sports at minor and not under consideration. So baseball and gymnastics do not a Blueblood make.

People have different definitions of blue blood. My definition of blue blood is someone who must use the accomplishments of their forefathers to justify their own relevance. Examples in football would be Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Penn, Minnesota, Nebraska, Texas, Tennessee, etc.

For example, does Alabama really need to claim blue blood status? No, they're just Alabama. Everyone knows what they're about. You don't need to include them in some useless blanket term with a variety of schools ranging from has-beens to current powers.

Spoken like a true non-blueblood.

And none of the schools listed meet the criteria, so they are not Blueblood.

Bluebloods are rare. Very rare.

A handful at best.
