Good call on including the Masters, I hadn't thought about that. I'd probably slide it in at either four or five on the list.

March Madness is a cool event but what lessens it from my perspective is how little people care about who actually wins the damn thing.

MM is overrated. Bracket challenges were a brilliant add. Without those people who “care” would only actually care if their team was advancing.

8. NBA playoffs

10. The Masters

11. The British Open

12. The Olympics
….

17. Kentucky Derby

If you don’t appreciate this ranking, you might be an uncultured redneck who has never left the South.

Olympics way too low IMO. MLB Playoffs/World Series should be in the top 3. The Masters should be much higher. And as much as I personally love NCAA baseball, it's way too high. I also do believe there is an argument for the World Cup at #1, but I personally wouldn't have it in the top spot. I'd also find a place for the Euro Cup as well somewhere on this list. The Superbowl is also an overrated event most years IMO. It's become far too corporate for my liking, and the game itself doesn't usually live up to the circus of the event. Wimbledon also needs to be here somewhere

This.
just because people from the south generally don't care doesnt mean it isnt #1. Its the worlds sport for a reason. only the olympics rivals it

#1 WC/Olympics 1a/1b
#2 Super bowl
#3 March Madness
#4 CFP
#5 Masters/Wimbelton
#6 PDC darts world championships (there that's my biased pick)

The World Cup is definitely number one, but they are about to dilute it with a bi-annual World Cup from the looks of it. Ruined.

To be completely unbiased myself, people who say the World Cup isn't #1 or not enjoyable or whatever just because they hate soccer are usually uneducated southerners that make the rest of the south look bad for various other reasons anyway.

are they really? What happens to the Euro Cup at that point?

Don't see how you can have a World Cup every two years, a Euro Cup every four years, and that still also leaves the Olympics every 4 years.

That would end up looking like this prospectively:

2024
Euro Cup June-July
Olympics July-August
World Cup November-December

And that doesn't even include all the qualifying games leading up to the main events. Would be a complete clusterfrick

I’d put Stanley Cup just below NBA. But I’d much rather go to a Stanley Cup game vs most of these.

Soccer in Qatar? No thanks.

The future Summer Olympics will take place in Paris, L.A., and Brisbane…
