Stay mad. Kelly is a p good hire though.

I agree. It is funny though at the hypocrisy of these LSU members acting as if they hired Jesus for a coach

From a numbers perspective you can easily debate he's the same or even worse than many SEC HCs.

Wow. It's been a while since I've seen such lashing out over a coaching hire at LSU.

Slam dunk hire confirmed.

Over the last 5 seasons, where Kelly went 54-9, Notre dame had the 6th hardest average strength of schedule compared to SEC teams during that stretch

So ND’s SOS during that stretch would be ranked 6th if they were in the SEC?

Please clarify.

You’re right. And if he goes 4-8 here his arse will be gone also.

USCe should at least try to be worth a damned at football.

Here is what Kelly brings to the table. He followed what must be the worst HC hire in ND history. In his last 3 years at ND, Weis went 16-21. In his first 2 years at ND, Kelly went 16-10.

Kelly took a dumpster fire at ND, and made it well above respectable again.

2016 was a crap season...but they were within a red c*nt hair of having a significantly better record. 6 of their 8 losses were by 7 points or less...4 were by 3 or less. Still...it's kind of amazing that he survived after that season.

He rebuilds dumpster fires...and many would say that LSU is at least smoldering after the last 2 seasons. IMHO, he is a safe hire.

2014: 8-5
2015: 10-3
2016: 4-8

Kelly would've been fired at LSU after his 4th or 5th year.

Why won't LSU fans acknowledge his first seven years? I mean 4-8 in year 7? YIKES.

And he's 54-9 since then.

Yeah, he'd get fired after 4 years at LSU. Notre Dame could have done that too, and miss out on that 54-9 run. But they didn't. Maybe that's a lesson in being patient.
I know you didn't mean to make that point, but it's a far better point than the one you made.

Notre Dame is a tougher job than LSU. It's harder to recruit, it has high academic standards, and they have ways they run a school that they don't bend easily for athletes.

I will absolutely give Kelly props for firing coaches, making new hires and adjustments, and following up this disaster with 10-3, 12-1, 11-2, 10-2, 11-1, and two playoff appearances. Good coaches do that. Look at all the other fanbases who bemoan their head coach for not making the necessary adjustment and firing guys. Anyone disputing that is either just trolling or doesn't do college football very well.

Name another coach who has accomplished that. Just one.

What year did Jimbo win a national championship at A&M? He has been the first half of the season national champs a few times though. You have that going for you.

NDs average national SOS rank over the last 5 years hs been 14th, which is better than 8 SEC teams

Seems you need a new “his record is only good because his schedule is so weak” talking point

If you think Les Miles and Ed O could win games at LSU, but the second winningest coach in college football, Brian Kelly can’t, please log off. LSU finally has an X’s and O’s coach in BR again.
