I think this is saying the booster wanted the Currie/Fulmer swap, not Les

Even if Jeremy had moved on to take a different head coaching job I wish Miles had gotten the job. He would have done well there. I really like Les Miles and think he was great for the conference. The sec has a real lack of personality at the coaching position I find. Considering it seems half are from the Saban coaching tree it's not surprising though.

Fulmer: let's guy that's never been a head coach and is a known jerk to work with
Yeah he really solved it all

How does no one realize that Schiano would have never been good at Tennessee? Currie is clearly incompetent,in his short time he proved that he couldn't handle running the UTAD. Obviously there is a huge amount of pressure on that position, moreso than most because of how unsatisfied everyone is with the current state.
Phil took over and we won the SEC in basketball. Im not saying hes a godsend or will be the long tern answer but i and anyone else would take Fulmer/Pruitt over Currie/Schiano any day of the week. Not a soul besides Mr Currie wishes that we had Greg Schiano as our coach now.

I don't see how you can say this with any real conviction..there is absolutley no way at all to know how good he would or wouldn't have been. However, there is ZERO doubt his resume is more accomplished than pruitt's, and he has HC experience. I don't think many wanted to admit it during the hiring process, although now that it's history we can, but Schiano would have probably gotten UT back to at least respectibility.

Tennessee appears to be a disaster right now. I said Tennessee had a Tennessee problem last night and was called stupid. More and more coming out makes that statement look more and more true. Les Miles plays a part in getting AD fired? Who exactly is in charge there? What a mess

Greg Schiano's head coaching experience is in the big east (just like old Butch), he has a bad rep from the NFL and was tangentially associated with a child rape scandal. Maybe if Currie hadnt dangled Gruden out there for a few months and then pulled a bait-and switch the reception would have been different.
Schiano would not have been a good hire. Even if he is a good coach (which he very well may be), the situation at Tennessee is not right for him. I think the fact that he was rejected by the fanbase and whole state of Tennessee is pretty good evidence of that.

This sound accurate. Fulmer wanted the AD chair, and everything is just "whatever".

Tom Herman’s only experience as a HC came from the AAC.
Before Florida, Urban Meyer’s only HC experience was in the Mountain West.
At the time Schiano left, he accounted for 85% of all of Rutgers’ bowl appearances.

During a deposition, a guy said that ten years prior, he heard from another guy, than ten years before that, Schiano said he saw something.
Despite this, a 600 page independent report found no other ties to Schiano, the NE Patriots and the OSU programs vetted and found nothing.

Ah, you mean a handful of idiots “protesting” in front of a rock, who likely had never attended a Ut game? Or the state reps from Memphis who sent out tweets saying “my official position is that I don’t like child rape.”

Everything this guy said is true. Schiano turned Rutgers around. RUTGERS.
Rutgers had been to ONE bowl game in the history of the program before Schiano. Schiano got SIX of them in his last seven years. Rutgers is the place where football goes to die. Schiano made them a real program.
Schiano's work is what got Rutgers into the B1G. That's not even debatable.

Why would Les say to fire the guy he’s contacting for a job?

Both up and coming guys with a lot of potential
Herman was 41 when hired by TX, had just taken Houston to a #8 finish. LSU among others wanted him badly
Meyer was 41 when hired by UF, had just taken took Utah to a BCS bowl win. Notre Dame also wanted him badly.
Schiano would have been 51, with his previous stop being a DC. No other schools interested

Butch Jones won the Big east twice and coach of the year. Whoop de do.

Nick Saban already had had success at MSU and won a national championship at LSU before he tried the NFL. Petrino had turned Lousiville into a national power. Schiano won some games at Rutgers.

So what youre saying is he is tangentially associated with a child rape scandal?

How about the entire Tennessee fanbase and multiple state reps from all across TN specifically decrying Schiano
NO one wanted him. We are glad he is not here. HE would never have done well because no one would have given him a chance. He may be a good coach, but the deck was stacked against him at UT.

^^This. The booster in question is Thunder Thornton. Miles' agent had been trying to get in touch with Currie and Thunder passed that info. to President DiPietro. Thunder makes a snide comment about Currie's "extreme vetting process" in the same exchange, presumably mocking the fact that a google search turned up the Penn St stuff on page 1.
Thunder also told DiPietro he approached Fulmer about coaching again but said Jim (meaning Haslam) would never allow it. He also informed DiPietro that a booster a Louisville had told him that Bobby P. wanted out and that the UofL AD was leaving and that was yet another option (he doubted that would fly any more than Fulmer as an interim but was passing along all he knew). Thunder says that Fulmer will do anything to help the university that he can and DiPietro responds that Fulmer is a great/wonderful person.
One thing that is clear in all the texts is that the big boosters aside from the Haslams knew they had a problem with Currie and Schiano. They wanted him gone and realized he'd created a shitstorm (those words were used). Among those power players, Fulmer's name keeps popping up again and again as the best stabilizing force to handle the shitstorm Currie created.
Fulmer's emails are interesting. There's no conspiracy in them, just people asking him to help and him being nice to them. He's talked about more in other people's emails than in his own.
Note: I'm still at the beginning stages of getting through the info dump. But I've read Fulmer's emails and President DiPietro's.

If you want to give him credit for the win do you also want to give him for the women's team losing their first ever tournament game on their home court??? Wasn't it like 50ish wins without a loss?
