I forgot about the whole intimidating the victims thing.
IMO that really brings it to another level. From what I understand that we know so far is that the football staff may not have even been aware of some of this stuff that was happening with it's or even a lot of it. Now, could they have done a better job of keeping themselves informed? The answer is most likely yes.
At Baylor, here's a list of things that the investigation uncovered...
The investigation
quote:
exposed a football program under Briles that was allowed to operate under its own rules, which led to intimidation of alleged victims, concealment of sexual assault charges and risk for future attacks. Among the law firm’s other findings:
?Football coaches and staff “conducted their own untrained internal inquiries, outside of policy, which improperly discredited complainants and denied them the right to a fair, impartial and informed investigation.”
?In some cases, including reports of a sexual assault by multiple football players, athletic department and football officials knowingly did not report sexual violence to an administrator outside the department. Football coaches or staff members “met directly with a complainant and/or a parent of a complainant and did not report the misconduct. As a result, no action was taken to support complainants, fairly and impartially evaluate the conduct under Title IX, address identified cultural concerns within the football program, or protect campus safety once aware of a potential pattern of sexual violence by multiple football players.”
?“In some instances, the football program dismissed players for unspecified team violations and assisted them in transferring to other schools.”
?“Football coaches and staff took affirmative steps to maintain internal control over discipline of players and to actively divert cases from the student conduct or criminal processes.” Coaches involved themselves in criminal and disciplinary matters that “reinforced an overall perception that football was above the rules, and that there was no culture of accountability for misconduct.”
?The football program employed a “separate system of internal discipline,” which reinforced the perception that “rules applicable to other students are not applicable to football players.” The separate system protected football players from standard consequences and placed students at the risk future misconduct.
?Baylor did not follow prescribed protocol for accepting transfer students, such as background checks, in adding players to the program. One of those players, defensive end Sam Ukwuachu, was sentenced this fall to 180 days in jail and 10 years’ probation he was convicted of sexually assaulting a former Baylor soccer player in 2013. Ukwuachu left Boise State after facing assault charges.
That's seriously some twisted shite. If LSU is guilty of doing shite like that then I hope they get the full extent of the punishment available.

None of this is NCAA related.
Neither was Penn State's situation, but that didn't keep them from issuing devastating penalties.

In your professional opinion Hail, has LSU surpassed the "Baylor Line" in sleazy rapiness yet?
Baylor covered up a freaking MURDER.
Nobody other than Penn State has gotten close to them on the sleaze scale.

If all the accusations against LSU are true, they're guilty of a bunch of Title IX violations at multiple levels of university leadership. Penn State was guilty of covering up decades of depravity by a pedophile at multiple levels of university leadership.
Do I think if every word of what LSU's been accused of doing rises to Penn State level? Absolutely not. There's no world where they're close to comparable.
But neither involve any accusation of NCAA violations. Not a single one. The NCAA basically made up some reason to punish Penn State because of the repulsive behavior they supported for a very long time. In the time of #metoo, don't think for a second they won't do the same thing to LSU if they get in the mood.

A football coach literally witnessed a kid being raped in the football facility and other football coaches covered it up and allowed the rapist to have an office on campus for years.
Meanwhile, in LSU's case, there doesn't really seem to be any involvement from anyone in the football program.

It was abhorrent. I wouldn't care if everyone involved was put down like a rabid dog but show me the NCAA rule that was violated. Difficulty: there wasn't one.
The NCAA decided the crimes were so egregious they were going to administer punishment despite the lack of any actual NCAA issue being presented. That should scare the fans of any program.

Say what? The literal title of this thread is "Les Miles offered a secret settlement." It's a pretty hard case to argue that there doesn't seem to be any football involvement when the guy involved was the head football coach.
The argument being made by some (not me, I don't know enough facts to have an opinion either way) is that the entire LSU athletic department ignores Title IX and doesn't promote a safe environment. The head football coach paying off co-eds and facing no repercussions would be used as evidence to bolster that claim. If the NCAA buys in, they'll make something up to punish LSU just like they did Penn State. It won't be right, but that won't stop them.

Please don’t let it become a thing for chicks who accepted bribes to start outting the guy years later.
Yes, guys line to fcuk girls. The temptation on a college campus has to be ridiculous.

LSU is literally toxic. Miles, Ed O, rapes, illegal payments in both Football and Basketball.
The NCAA should just nuke this entire dump

Yes. Only the most elite posters (or those that work at a fire department with crappy internet) can pull those off.

Doesn't matter, LSU is under investigation by the NCAA for separate issues in which they self-imposed a bowl ban and scholarship reductions hoping the NCAA won't add to it.
