It’s 2022, why are y’all seriously acting like this is surprising to anybody? Midnight yell has literally been the same thing for decades, and there are plenty of videos of it on the internet. Trying way too hard.

I feel like this is a skit and someone's making fun of them and the real version's really not that bad but but it is that bad and those guys are completely serious about what they're trying to do

I'd say it's akin to a pep rally. When it was created, A&M was a rural, all-male school with compulsory enrollment into the corps of cadets. There probably wasn't much for those guys to do on a Friday night. Could it be modernized? Probably. But I don't care because I haven't been since my freshman year and don't watch them online.
By comparison, most Tik Tok videos are cringey AF and that's a present day activity that is pervasive in our society. Those don't have the excuse of being holdovers from another era.
In any case it ain't going away so everyone will just have to cringe I guess.
