Yeah I had to double check on that one to be sure. In 1990 Georgia Tech finished #2 in the AP poll.
1952 Georgia Tech is interesting. They only had two close games (vs. Florida, won 17-14 and vs. Alabama, won 7-3) and ended up playing the SEC's 3rd place team in the Sugar Bowl - an unbeaten Ole Miss (8-0-2, 4-0-2 in SEC play). Georgia Tech won easily 24-7.
Georgia Tech was ranked #2 for 3 weeks during 1952, to include the final poll.
