Unless I'm misremembering a year, I think Alabama/Arkansas goes back to 2004

In terms of deciding if a win is a good win or not I don't think it does, but this isn't really about that.

Alabama obviously has a little bit of a built in buffer considering there isn't a series game with them involved that would be any later than the end of 2007.

2007 - Arkansas was #16
2006 - Alabama was #22
2005 - Alabama was #20

So yep, 2004. The first and last game of the Marc Gullion era after Brodie tore his ACL. It went poorly.

Not sure why it crossed my mind…..

But is there a decade by decade analysis on which decade had the most wins by Unranked vs ranked programs?

A better dig would be
Decades that saw more unranked sec beat the ranked sec.

The request comes from a place in my mi d where I want to know which rivalries throw ranking out the window and see more upsets.

I Assume that it would be pretty much even in the 2010s as it was in the 1970s.

Not sure - I'm sure one of the data dump sites has that sort of data you could sift through.

All thanks to Alabama because Tennessee has been garbage since 2008.

Vols did finish ranked in 15 and 16. Should've gone 11-1 in 15.
