The Wheeler thread got me thinking

Arkansas - 2021
Alabama - 2021
LSU - 2021
Florida - 2021
- No NCAA Tournament in 2020 -
Auburn - 2019
Kentucky - 2019
Tennessee - 2019
Texas A&M - 2018
South Carolina - 2017

Ole Miss - 2015

Vanderbilt - 2012

Mizzou - 2010*

Mississippi State - 2008

Georgia - 2002

*Not an SEC member at time of last NCAA Tournament win

Embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing.

Georgia needs to really work hard to upgrade basketball. The recruits are there

For a fanbase that loathes Mike Anderson so much, it's interesting that they've been through 10 seasons and 3 different HC's, none of which able to replicate ol' suitcase's succces at Mizzou.

I am thrilled about our results, but if we hadn't started so cold in the game against Baylor we could have beaten them (we outscored them the last 32 minutes of the game). If we beat Baylor we get a very over rated Houston team and I think we could take them. Then we would have played a worn out Gonzaga team for all the marbles. Ah... what could have been. I'll take what we did get though.

Not sure where you're going with this.

MA didn't do much with Arkansas too. 2 wins in 8 years? Wow, how could mizzou let someone like that leave.

He is a very average coach, and the AD made stupid hirings after that, it happens..

We made an excellent hire at football, sucks we didnt do the same in basketball.

Nah, we were seeded 14th and played Xavier in the 1st round and lost.

Xavier ended up making the Elite 8 that year.

MA needed to adjust his outdated system, recruit better and actually hire new assistants. He would've done alright here if he wasn't so stubborn. I'm glad he's gone and we have Muss.

Yeah, if your Auburn, you hope UGA, Georgia Tech and Clemson flounder in basketball. Bruce Pearl will take all those Georgia top recruits every year

Exactly. Staying close to home for most Atlanta kids these days means going to Auburn. The Atlanta prep basketball scene just sees UGA as another mediocre program. There's no built in home field advantage there like there is for LSU for NOLA kids and Alabama for Birmingham/Huntsville kids. So they're going to have to sustain success for a while to change that attitude, and then be able to capitalize on it. While people are right to point out that UGA has a massive amount of basketball talent in their backyard, that doesn't make it an easy job.

Our loathing came after he left. He had a team ready to make a run (#2 seed upset in the 1st round) but stopped recruiting and left. Why would anybody be happy about a winning coach leaving. Then it was easy to make fun of him because he couldn't replicate his success at other schools.

As far as the coaches the came after him, just look at the list:

Haith, Kim Anderson, Cuonzo.

Its not a good list.

It’s sad to know we’ve been upset in the first round a shite ton since. Most notably our stacked 2012 roster.

To have players like Jordan Clarkson, Michael Porter Jr, Jontay Porter. Jeremiah Tilmon, Kassius Robertson, Laurence Bowers, Jabari Brown, Phil Presey, Marcus Denmon, Alex Oriakhi, Earnest Ross, Jordan Barnett, Michael Dixon, Ricardo Ratliff, etc since that last tournament win(some were apart of that win but had seasons left where we didn’t win) is literally so fricking sad.
I’m probably missing some guys too.

He took us from a program that was in shambles and on the verge of facing scholarship reductions, to a team that was in the tourny 3 out of 4 years. Is that up to the program standard? No, but he left us in a much better place. Also would have a more impressive resume if we didn't get screwed out of a round of 32 win vs eventual champ UNC.

Outside of Haith who could only win with Mike's players, he's the winningest HC Mizzou has had since the 1920s.

Is he a hall of fame coach? Definitely not. But history says he's a better coach than Mizzou is a basketball program.

Agreed. With us he was never able to win away from home when it mattered, like ever. At home seemed like a for sure win no matter who we played.

I hope UGA keeps playing in that dimly lit shithole called Stegman. That’s our best recruiting tool.

I am kind of over basketball to be honest. I never liked the way Cal turned his lineup over, but when you recruit top players like he does, you put up with it. Now everyone's lineup is going to turnover like this with the transfer rule.

You are basically going to get one or two years out of most of your players, so you will never see a freshman mature into his junior year prior to him leaving, much less his senior year. It is damn near like JUCO now.

To be the flagship in Georgia with Atlanta literally overflowing with blue chip talent this is absolutely embarrassing that Georgia has been this bad.
