Pretty amazing that he was a first-rounder in baseball and Todd McShay says he would be a first-rounder in football if he went that route. Although I understand the concussion/injury fear with football, it seems like that would be a much safer career choice for him. First round in football, you are going to be a starter in the pros. Baseball is such a riskier bet for prospects, even top ones.

He’s too petite to endure a career in the NFL.

Murray would be in the NFL for a few years and a lot of teams are going to be very hesitant due to his size. He is absolutely making the right choice in playing baseball.

Murray would be silly to pick the NFL from a rational, black and white perspective.

But maybe that's what he loves and he's ok with less money and a shorter career. And that'd be fine too.

Yea not even close. And as a Top 10 pick he'd have every opportunity to frick up and still have a shot to make it the show.

He signed a $5M signing bonus with the A's. Seems like he made the right choice.

Sucks, because I love watching him play football, but he made the smart call.

I thought it as pretty much a given that he's gone after this year. Baseball is his future.

No way he's a 1st round NFL pick.

The OU Media Guide lists him at 5'11", but the baseball Media Guide lists him at 5'9". Either way would bump him to 2nd or 3rd round at best. At this point he's Timmy Chang who can hit a curveball

He does seem to be a very tall midget.

He already reiterated a couple weeks ago that he's going to play baseball after this year.

Pretty amazing he has a legit shot at the Heisman this year and is going to not play football after this year.

He isn't the yearly, "oh this guy is a bit too short" prospect.

He's a fricking midget. The football looks like a beach ball in his hand.

There is NO way he could play QB for any meaningful time in the NFL.

we talk about some qbs not being 6ft, etc, but muray can't be over 5'7". like, he's legit tiny. he has a small frame too.

This game against Alabama is going to show why he would not hold up in the NFL.

This, he’s 5’7 tops. I interviewed one of our walk-on QBs who was listed at 5’11. I’m 5’9, he was an inch shorter than me and he was taller than Kyler on the sidelines.

I love football but if I'm trying to be a pro and make millions I'll take the less dangerous sport if it's open to me. Can't blame him for that.

He's too small for the NFL, baseball pays better, and his body will not be destroyed.

This is an easy, EASY decision.

It isn't that amazing. He basically plays 7 on 7 football in the B12. Rarely takes a hit, and slides at the first sign of contact

Smart when you are a midget

The comparisons to Russell Wilson are the closest I see and I think Murray definitely has the arm strength.
Wilson is a little bigger and more put together to withstand NFL pounding.

Murray impresses me as a pocket passer despite his size.
I could see someone drafting him in late rounds just to have his rights in case he burns out of MLB
