Sunday, Barnes became the first Tennessee men's basketball coach to win the Naismith Coach of the Year Award. He led the Vols to a program-record-tying 31 wins this season and guided Tennessee to its eighth Sweet 16 appearance and first since 2014.

10News anchor Russell Biven has learned that Barnes was targeted by Arkansas and that money was not an issue, but Barnes wasn't interested in that or other jobs in the SEC.

Russel Bivens is a close friend with Barnes FWIW

Barnes turns down UCLA & Arkansas to stay at Tennessee. Meanwhile Arkansas basketball is dead.

Yall have a great night.

And yet not a recruit alive remembers them being relevant.

The last 2+ Decades:

Tennessee basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Arkansas basketball.

Why would we want a coach with a losing record against the shitty coach we just fired?

I read it was Barnes who inquired about Arkansas.

This may be true. He knows he pretty much has a lifetime contract after Tennessees greatest season ever.

How did you get that from the OP? I didn't see anything suggesting that.

You're trying too hard

Razor backs have been bent over by Prick the last 2 seasons. Nearly mercy ruled off the court a few months ago when you were down by 40 at one point.

No points will be awarded for beating one of the worst teams in the country the first 2 years of his rebuild.

Flashback to Tennessee's Leaked 37th Football Job Interview:

They went on to hire the guy who coached defense for Saban that one year, but y'all remember this leaked video?

I have learned that Arkansas wanted Coach Barnes. Money was not an issue. Coach Barnes told them he would not do that to Tennessee. Barnes unwilling to listen to teams within the conference

Sounds more to me like he would have loved to speak with Arkansas had we been in another conference. I’m not sure why that would give you the warm fuzzies.
