Knowing what you know right now, AU fans, how do you feel about Gus going forward?

Disclosure: even though I hate his style of football and his decisions at times seem mind-boggling, I actually think Gus has been instrumental in keeping AU competitive and allowing them to (periodically) go toe-to-toe against Bama during this historic run. I think AU would miss him greatly if they got rid of him. But where do y’all stand? Happy about the contract extension? Time to move on? All fanbases tend to adopt Jekyll and Hyde tendencies regarding their coaches but I’m not sure I’ve seen such a pronounced case (outside of LSU fans generally) as AU fans are with Malzahn. Wondering if there’s a consensus on this board?

They're gonna need another 2 million in donations from him.

IF he can admit his issues and weaknesses and correct them plus get some fire and passion to go with it I am fine with him.

Seriously, My take on Gus, he lost to Clemson/LSU and still beat Bama and UGA last season. He appears to take the foot off the gas and play conservative which is killing us. I would rather have him as coach. Our recruiting could be better but I blame the bag man for that. I am sure Gus would agree.
In conclusion....Keep Gus and move to the SEC East...

I wish he had to coach with a shock collar, just so I could buzz the shite out of him the 3 or 4 times a game he goes full gus.

Loss is not on Gus solely. Players have to execute to win games against good teams. Auburn did not do that last night. Gus has brought more good to Auburn in his years than any coach in a long time.

Fans just like to melt. For some reason, they just dont understand the ins and outs. Just the bad things.

One week he is "Field goal Gus". The next week he gets hammered for going on 4th and 1 early in a game. It shows fans inability to accept that everything will not always be perfect and go as planned.

the same way i did on the day he was hired: sick to my stomach....he has cost AU several games with his "harry highschool" decision making....we could do worse, but the PTB seem happy to lose 3-5 games a year in order to beat the updykes every 3-4 years

Same as I always have. He's a decent coach that is a bit stubborn and will generally lose 1 or 2 games he probably shouldn't and will likely win one he shouldn't.

Tide, he did beat bama and uga. But when it counted he got owned by uga, and disrespected the whole SEC by losing to UCF.

I agree but it is hard to beat a top SEC team twice especially in that short of a time span. I think Gus should have been better prepared and more creative for that game. One of the Gus drawbacks. He is supposed to be an offensive wizard....How can you be a Wizard if you never perform something magical. Running up the middle and slant passes do not work against a top tier SEC defense....twice.

This is at least one thing O has over all other SEC coaches. I thought he was about to go toe to toe with that trooper right after the field goal yesterday

Same way I did before and same way I did last year when we beat UGA and Bama and same way I did when he got the raise.

His teams will never have the intensity and toughness to dominate opponents for an entire season. We will always have an identity crisis the first part of the season. Our quarterbacks will struggle passing when getting pressured. He is not and will not be the guy that gets Auburn to where we want to be.

I wasn’t surprised at all when we lost yesterday and my buddy and I predicted the outcome as soon as we missed the field goal.

Only head coach i’ve ever heard have to deny he’s making offensive calls in a presser for fear he’d be tarred and feathered if he admitted it.

I think that says it all

The only mistake I saw him make was LSU seemed to struggle when Auburn went hurry up and although he kept passing in the fourth qtr he slowed the offense down too much. Other than that you just had Auburn defenders in place to make the plays but they failed to make them.

Look I don’t agree with every decision but hard to win games -2 in turnover margin vs a top ten team
