Kirk Herbstreit admits it is early, but he is rolling with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“I’m telling you he has the same energy he's had in 2009 when he won his first title against Texas. He has great players like he had in ‘09, maybe better. He has a team that’s going to be upset with a chip on their shoulder.

“As we sit here on May 31, it’s hard for me not to lean toward Alabama in the SEC.”

They didn't believe in us.
They said we would go 7-5 after all those guys went to the NFL.

Alabama couldn’t even win their division with the reigning Heisman winner at QB and 2 of the 3 first picks in the NFL Draft

It's a QB driven league unlike it was in '09. Losing Young adding Buchner isn't going to cut it in my honest opinion.

Wasnt 2021 a rebuilding year according to Saban and last year was the revenge tour? Wasn’t it disrespectful to Will Anderson that other players shared the same field as him?

Let's jump in the time machine:

quote:

When looking at the SEC, Rece Davis asked Herbstreit if Alabama is the preseason favorite in the SEC.
“Yeah. I mean, all you have to do is look at history,” Herbstreit said. “When Alabama comes up a little bit short of winning a national championship, the team that comes back that next year is incredibly motivated. Now, I know they won the SEC Championship, but they came up a little bit short and did not get it done in Indianapolis (in the national championship) against Stetson Bennett.
So, they’re going to be possessed. They’re going to be on a mission. They’re going to have to get through Georgia, and I think they will. I think Bama is the team to beat in the SEC.”

On Pete Golding:

quote:

“I’ve been saying, Pete’s a great coach. You and I have been coming into Tuscaloosa dealing with Kirby (Smart) back in the day and the assistant coaches, they come and go. But this guy never complains. He never makes excuses. He just takes the abuse from the fans out there. That’s part of the deal when you’re defensive coordinator for Nick Saban, but this guy’s a good coach.”

This is exactly what Kirby needs to convince his team people are doubting them, and predict uga to go 7-5

It was Nick Saban that made all of the stupid calls to lose against LSU.

It didn’t help that the reigning Heisman winner and future #1 pick, Bryce Young, went 25/51 with a QBR under 70

Actually, the history of the last 15 seasons provides me with a great deal of comfort every year. BAMA is loaded once again, so Kirby ain't lying. And I see coordinators who are quickly getting back to the fundamentals of football. Physical and playing fast.

LSU fans did after the embarrassment of post Burrow/Brady.
Auburn fans, too. Remembering Gene Chizik post Cam Newton
