We were already short on scholarship depth but Whitney didn't really do anything when he got into the games. I think he's got talent but I'm not sure he was willing to play defense like Cal demanded.
Good luck to him where ever he goes.

Is he transferring or dropping out to train for the draft? With his stat line the latter would be a poor choice.

That's the current speculation, never mentioned transferring so thought is he might just go to draft or Europe. Hard to tell yet. Will be interesting to see what does happen with him.

Kid will never make a NBA team. The recruiting services messed up on him...seems like a great kid, hope he can land somewhere. Kentucky was not for him.

I'm not trying to hammer a guy who is essentially still a kid, but anyone who leaves a place after six or seven months because of playing time is likely to never amount to much on the court or field.
Learning how to deal with adversity and better yourself as a player is tougher than just going somewhere that they have to play you because they don't have much talent. I mean this is a guy that I am assuming thinks he can play professionally.
Hell he can look at his own team and see Nick Richards who has improved so much even in one year.
Terrible decision if it is based (as it seems) on the fact that he wasn't getting to play as much as he wanted.

And the reality is Cal has given him the opportunity to try to earn his PT. There were more than a few times in some games where he was out there (often with Brooks) and it was like “WTF is this kid still out there?”. I think Brooks and Juzang improving while he wasn’t was likely the nail in the coffin. And there’s no relief coming next season for him to take more time to develop and still get PT. That’s just the beast at UK.
I hope he finds a situation that’s better suited for his expectations.
