Let's look at a few numbers.

51-25 at A&M, .671: not terrible.
After the best player in A&M history left:
31-19, 62%, still not terrible.
But then we come to the fun stuff. SEC record after Manziel:
2014 3-5
2015 4-4
2016 4-4
2017 4-3, will almost certainly be 4-4 after Saturday.
And then there is the particularly ugly stuff, the SEC home record not including JerryWorld:
2014 0-3
2015 2-2
2016 1-2
2017 0-3
A&M lost 4 home games in the 90's under RC. Four. In a decade. They lost one in '89 and not again until '95. I don't think the above is what the AD had in mind when they spent half a billion on a stadium renovation. I think this rankles Aggies as bad as anything. Well that, and 59-0 and losing by 1 to a bad Ole Miss last year and blowing a 44-10 lead at UCLA and not showing up against MSU this year. Just off the top of my head.

I wish him well, but it is past time for a change.

Tje fact is that Herman was the only coach ever who pulled in a 5 star recruit at a non P5 except of course BYU and ND.

Not only is that a false statement, but Herman wasn't even the first one.

DeAndre Brown (5-star) signed with Southern Miss (Larry Fedora) in the 2008 class.

ESPN recruiting had him ranked much lower then the other services.

Whoever A&M brings in should continue what Herman has started at UT and that is the Texas first mindset.
Herman used the Houston first mindset at Houston to bring in Ed Oliver

If both A&M and UT create that Texas first mindset into high school players they will no longer have to worry about outside programs like Ohio St and Oregon getting into Texas.

Ohio St got their hand slap with Anthony Cook and Oregon is up to their old tricks again but luckily a 2019 5 star WR decommited from them a couple of weeks ago.

1990 was 27 years ago, that was when OU and UT were in probation and LSU was a mess. A&M was better but still not elite. Never won or even seriously competed for a NC.

Now what about the Big 12 years? Wasn’t winning at home an issue there also? With more than one coach?

So maybe it’s an issue that trascends Sumlin.

The Texas 1st mindset is the reason Texas and A&M suck. Texas has a lot of talent, but the kids are soft. The old saying that good times create weak men is mostly true. The kids from Texas on average are just not as tough as those from LA, AL, MS, GA, FL, and SC.

A&M was never able to put together a team that could man up against the run and they had a lot of diva drama at the QB position. They weren't tough enough at other positions to overcome the QB play.

You sir, are correct. TXHSFB is all spread out which makes QBs look better than they really are, weak defensive front sevens and receivers that don’t know how to block for a pro-style offense.

Then Aggy and Texas do the same thing and wonder why they get run through by any team with a tough OL and solid running game.

I was in school during the first 4 years of the Big 12. A&M lost a grand total of 3 home games during that timeframe and none after my freshman year.

That included wins over:

#19 Oklahoma State
#2 Nebraska
#25 Texas Tech
#13 Missouri
#5 t.u.

From 2002-2010, the service of choice was Rivals. You never specified consensus and the ruling is upheld.

T-sip alter loses a timeout.

This statement is so blatantly disingenuous it's hard to determine if you are trolling of just plain stupid.

First of all, tu was never on probation...EVER. Second, OU wasn't on probation as severely as A&M was in 1994. Third, LSU was strong in the late 80's and OU dominant when A&M began its run under Sherrill. A&M may not have been elite, but we won our conference 6 times from '86 to '93, and dominated anyone we played at home. What more could we have done besides join the SEC with Arkansas in 1991?

FWIW, we did manage to win the XII in 1998 during the time of Nebraska dominance. It wasn't until Brown, Stoops, and Saben were hired, coinciding with RC's lackadaisicalness, that we had our downtown that lasted through the 2000s.

It is evident that Sumlin has righted the ship but cannot take it to the next level. That is what this is about.

It is also "about" how people like you are utterly stupid, braindead, and full of shite.

We lost a total of ZERO home games during my time at A&M from 1990 to 1994. We played our schedule, and that was that.

Don't post what you know nothing about.

Thanks in advance.

I agree, Sumlins team scores points. They should refocus on hiring a very stout DC.

I made a factual mistake with probation for UT but they certainly were bad.

You deflected and didn’t address the main thing... wasn’t winning at home also an issue in the Big 12? Not saying every season there, but at least the last 3-4 years? Was Sumlin the coach?
