Horrible news anytime a 20 year old is diagnosed with cancer. Don't know exactly how this will affect him football wise but he's a kid who has NFL potential.

Terrible news. Hopefully he recovers

Damn. A lot of times melanoma can be an isolated issue that is fixed through a routine surgery. Hopefully it hasn't spread.

I downvoted because I was downvoting cancer. But in turn I think I shot the messenger. I apologize.

Cancer gives no fricks.

Hopefully it was caught early enough. Always keep an eye out for new/suspicious looking spots on your skin or ones that change over time. Being young doesn't preclude you from skin cancer.

I can't stand cancer...even more than Saban.
Hope the young man beats it like they will Florida this year.

Damn, horrible news. It sounds like on his feet as well which is even worse for an athlete. Prayers sent.
This should also be a warning to African Americans, many of whom think that they can't get skin cancer. ANYONE can and do get skin cancer. You must take precautions anytime you're exposed to the sun. Just one sunburn could lead to skin cancer.

OP should change the subject to say malignant melanoma, not skin cancer. There is a huge difference.
Melanoma is MUCH more than skin cancer, it is deadly. If it metastasizes there is no cure. The hope is they got it quick enough and removed enough of it to keep it from the lymphatic system.
Unfortunately, I know more than I ever wanted to know about this deadly cancer as I watched my oldest daughter fight it for 6 years before succumbing to it 7 years ago this Saturday.
Tanning kills and studies show that tanning beds are just as deadly, maybe more so.
Many prayers for this young man that it was removed before it got a chance to take hold. Even so, 6 month body scans are now recommended for anyone diagnosed.

Hate to hear that. Hoping he makes a full recovery and his dream of playing in the NFL becomes a reality.

Sorry for your loss Bama. No parent should ever have to bury a child.
I also had the same reaction when I saw what he was diagnosed with. My Mom had melanoma when she was a teenager and luckily they caught it extremely early. Hopefully that is the case with Paschal as well. Kid could be in for the fight of his life.

My God Bama. I'm so sorry to hear this. I appreciate your strength in shedding more light on this awful disease. I didn't know it was so deadly.

Was coming here to start this thread. It's bad.
Last week Paschal had skin lesions removed from the bottom of his foot. At the time, doctors expected that to resolve the issue. Instead it revealed that Paschal had malignant melanoma. The sophomore defensive end had another procedure performed on Wednesday.

If they caught it in time and cut out what they need to, big margins, he'll be okay.
Scary stuff. My brothers and I have all dealt with it. Biggest organ of our body ... if it gets out of hand it's all overwith.
Best thing about these high profile cases is it makes others aware.
If you're a baby boomer, we didn't know about the dangers like they do now .... get checked regularly.
Kids like this, scary stuff. I hope they got it in time.
Wear sunscreen.
