Honestly I felt this way when watching Deshaun Watson at Clemson. Some games he seemed like he was going through the motions. In games like that Watson and Lawrence’s numbers are similar. Watson barely squeaked out (and lost) games they should’ve creamed the opponent. 2016 season Watson had over 15 interceptions on the season but won the title.

He made a total of 1 good throw vs Alabama. He didn't make mistakes which was good, but he was not pressured or anything all night.

1?

Come on man he had 1 throw that Ross made a ridiculous catch. The on prior was a perfect throw and Ross was being held and could only use 1 hand, the throw was money. To end that drive he threw a strike to Higgins that was incredible.....that was 1 drive alone.

I have watched that game again to see just his throws, he missed 5 throws all night and 2 of those were caught.

Lawrence is rarely really on target, with his WR's making circus catches much of the time

Yes 1.

Another angle of the catch.

I've challenged people to show me all these great throws outside the one, and nobody has been able to deliver.

Most of his yards came against Savion Smith, until he was "injured" in the 3rd quarter. Clemson only managed 7 pts after he left the game - and that is when the play above came from. The great catch Ross had also came on that same drive, I won't post that one since it's all about the great one handed catch.

Huge amount of yards on this play for example. Can't get much easier for a QB can it?

He was throwing to wide open receivers with a really clean pocket all night long. It's a travesty Lawrence gets all the credit when it was really your coaching staff and great O and D line play that won the game.

Wide open receiver with a huge clean pocket:

Clean pocket, open reciever:

The important thing is that he didn't lose the game for Clemson and did a great job taking what was given to him. But for some reason some want to anoint him the greatest QB ever and I'm calling bullshite.

Watson made me say - this QB is kicking our arse. I can go and find amazing plays he was making all game, no problem. I didn't think anything close to that about Lawrence, I saw better coaching and better O and D lines.

But feel free to prove me wrong and post some plays. For some reason nobody ever does.

The point is what Clemson did to Alabama is the same as what they did to almost everybody else they played last year with the exception of Texas A & M and Syracuse. They blew everybody out the same as they blew Alabama out. Trevor Lawrence and the offense was making plays like that all season if you watched them play enough games. Those wide receivers was a mismatch for everybody they played including Alabama. That was the problem most people couldn't cover them. It was a combination of the quarterback and receivers being great and the team as a whole was great. He hasn't looked as good this year because I don't think their offensive line is as good as last year and people have a year of game film to attack any kind of weaknesses in his game or the team as a whole.

Clemson needs the QB who can beat elite teams in the CFP, not put up big stats in the regular season.

That's not really just potential, that's a really good season. What people are so surprised about to start this season is he simply hasn't improved at all and arguably is playing worse.

Now that LSU is playing great on offense! I am wondering if that have to do with switching karma for this year from Clemson to LSU?

So if a good throw goes to an open WR, its not a good throw anymore?

Isn't a QBs job throwing catchable balls to open received?

As I said, he did what was asked of him and didn't lose the game.

It just wasn't some miraculous performance some people made it out to be. A huge number of QB's could have done the same thing.

So basically every team in America would have beaten Alabama that night because one guy was slightly injured. That's an admirably ambitious way of denying credit.

This is really a good group of QBs coming out in the next few years. I wouldnt doubt a few of them have decent nfl careers

Clemson is simply just not as good as last year and there are about 8 QBs better than Lawrence.

Weird, I don't remember saying anything remotely close to that.

Maybe you should learn the difference in 1 position and an entire team and staff.

Dipshit.

A huge # of quarterbacks (14 in all before the Clemson game) all tried to do what Trevor Lawrence and Clemson did to Alabama but they wasn't successful. At some point you just have to give credit where credit is due and acknowledge that Clemson made the plays to win and Trevor Lawrence is a pretty good quarterback whether you like him or not. That doesn't diminish all the other great quarterbacks that are playing in college.

I’m rooting for Tavien Feaster...until he suits up against Clemson. That will be really weird.
