The team was really hard to beat with Doug on the mound. They believed they could beat anyone in the nation with doug throwing. Different story with hoglund. His stuff was good but he didn’t own teams on the mound the way Doug did.
Also bullpen struggled a lot this year and gave away some good starts by hoglund. And bats didn’t show up for some of his starts.

I don't think Hoglund gave up more than 3 in any conference start.
