Coach Bryant wanted Coach Stallings to replace him. Coach Stallings wanted to honor his contract with the Cardinals first ( I think he had just signed) before coming to Alabama.

And Perkins really started 5-0, thats the game the Penn St. Ref who had a connection to Penn. St. called a player out of bounds and he was in a whole yard or more, after Bama came back in the fourth quarter down 34-7 only to lose 34-28 while they should have won 35-34.
Penn St. fans wrote letters to the Birmingham News and Tuscaloosa News apologizing for the awful call (cheating by the ref.)

Let's see if the annointed SEC championship coach can do this the entire season.
I think Bama has at least one SEC loss coming.
BTW, saying that he is doing this with Saban players is totally retarded. DeBoer was 100% responsible for roster retention and did an excellent job at retaining + adding more talent. This is NOT a Saban thing in the world of NIL when the entire team can transfer out. So just stop that nonsense.
