and his son hasn't even taken a snap in a college game.

This will be much more interesting than Alabama's qb battle.

The Bulldogs’ quarterback situation has been closely monitored through spring and fall drills, and the scrutiny figures to increase after Fields’ father spoke indirectly about the competition.

Pablo Fields said Alabama’s decision to bench Jalen Hurts in favor of Tua Tagovailoa “wasn’t an Einstein move” in an article angled at his son taking over for Jake Fromm.

“They weren’t going to win that game without the switch,” Pablo Fields said. “They just weren’t. But I hope that opens eyes because teams will do it in every [other] spot — tackle, guard, center. They’ll figure a way. But playing the best quarterback, sometimes there’s a big blowback — especially if it’s an unseen commodity.”

It's not controversial because it has been said from Day One he is going to play. If he plays better than Fromm, he will take the job. This has been the narrative. There is no controversy.

Social media has given parents an outlet to display their issues on so many levels ... and it's not always a flattering look that we are getting from the parents.

SC had to deal with a similar issue from Brandon McElwain's butthurt Mom when he was benched midway through the 2016 season and replaced by Bentley.

The parents have always been out there talking, but social media has given them a huge platform from which to rail these days unfortunately.

If Fields dad cared so much about his son playing he would have sent him to Florida, the moment they signed that letter of intent they should have known Justin was going to be the backup for at least two years, it’s nobodies fault but his own.

That situation was different though. I think mcelwains parents were upset because Jake Bentley was 15 years old at the time and it seemed crazy for such a young QB to step in

Not a good comparison. Most college football fans don't even know who is Brandon McElwain, and USC in 2016 was a SEC also ran.

No mention of biggest free agent in college football history by dad. I'm already bored.

Speaking of which, it is clear to about any observer that Tua is much better than Hurts, but Fromm is also better than Hurts, so this has the potential to be much more interesting.

Kirby has stated over and over again its going to be whoever gives UGA the best chance to win. If its Fromm then he will start and play....if Fields is better he will play, if not he wills till play, but won't start.

Its pretty simple and if he is as good as advertised and as poppa fields thinks, then there should be nothing to worry about

What happened to McElwain? I forgot about him, but I figured he would catch on as a QB somewhere.

I suppose UF is still an option for next year if Fields isn't starting by the 4th game.

I think he's already enrolled, but with the new ncaa redshirt rule I think he can play in 4 games and still be eligible to transfer and play next year at UF.

Don't think the new redshirt rule would apply since you still have to sit out one calendar year from last playing in a contest.
