It looks like they are a different offense with Starkel at the helm. Boyd seems like an excellent RB and the WRs looked good. Do Arky fans think they can exceed 6-6 this year? I see a few upsets they pull this year

Starkel is a very good passer. Sometimes he gets a bit turnover prone but he will be a great asset for Arkansas.

I said 5-7 before the season started but I do think we will push 2-3 conference games to the wire. It just depends on how the team closes. Last week was a good start even though it was only CSU, the team stepped up in the 4th.

Really wish he would've played the entire game against Ole Miss. We might've won that one too.

I'm still thinking 6-6.

We have 2 more OOC(San Jose State and Western Kentucky), so that's 4 wins. We just have to win 2 against:

A&M(unlikely)
Kentucky(maybe?)
LSU/Alabama(hell no)
Auburn(unlikely)
Miss State(maybe)
Mizzou(maybe)

It's doable if the offense can keep clicking. Trey Knox and Burks are freshmen, and are leading the SEC in receiving yards(for freshmen) last I checked.

Add in Starkel and Boyd and we have the tools we need to be successful. Starkel will be here next year as well so that will be nice.

I don't think so- of course it would be great but while we do finally have a spark of positive, we have a long ways to go. But, I'd love to be wrong about that!

Hogs are certainly improving. From what I have watched, they have all of the tools to build a good offense. I like Starkel

Wyoming LOL

If you guys haven't figured out how to play defense, it's going to be a rough year for you.

Starkel makes a huge difference, should have Benn the starter all along. Our oline is improving as well.

We will be better than Mizzou and Miss St in a few weeks.

Our offensive skill players are pretty good. O line is a work in progress. Starting a true freshman at OG.

A couple of injuries to a front 7 that already had no depth. Having to play a couple of true freshman there too.

Not sold on morris although last week was much better than the previous 14 games. 5-7 this year sounds about right.

The condition Bert left y'all in was as bad as any outbound coach in my memory.

Curley didn't leave us that depleted.

You're right about it being a different offense with Starkel at the helm, he's got a cannon for an arm. If he can keep mistakes at a minimum he'll be one of the best QBs in the SEC - especially with 2 dangerous WRs capable of going up and winning the 50/50 balls.

Most of us are saying 5-7 or 6-6, with major improvement seen by the end of the season. Regardless we shouldn't be considered an automatic win anymore, we'll put up a challenge.

Bama will probably be the only team to just embarrass us with a blowout, if LSU were any other team they would too; we just tend to play them close even when we're turrible.

Our defense needs a little work to become serviceable, there's young talent there as a foundation but they need some time to gel and learn the speed of the game.

This team consists of 53 freshmen after all, making us the youngest team in the conference by far. With youth like that you can expect inconsistency, which will lose us some and win some others. The OM loss can be chalked up to that and bad QB play for a half.

We should see major strides next season with Starkel, our WRs, RBs and #2 TE returing. These skill players have the potential to be on par with the Petrino group, and are even showing glimpses as first year starters.

Defense is alright. Starting a couple freshmen. Really young. Secondary is better than what we've had.

LB's are slow but serviceable.

I'm curious to see the A&M and Arky game this year. I wonder if Starkel can have a good game against that secondary and if A&M can find a running back for that game

I don't know how much better A&M is, but our worst team in history only lost by 7 last year. Better QB, Better WR's, Better Defense(slightly), same RB/TE. It'll be interesting.

That said, we'll probably lose by 30.

DBs are young but talented, better than we've had in recent years and potential to be decent with some experience.

LBs are a mixed bag, mostly young but serviceable. Some are too slow to be elite or high-end, but won't completely whiff 50% of the time like we're used to.

The line has 3 SRs and one FR, a little better at stopping the run than getting pressure on the QB.

They don't play well as a cohesive unit just yet, there's a lot of inexperience and youth. We'll have to win some shootouts in the short-term if we want to win at all, they should be much better as a unit by the back 1/3rd of the season.

My biggest concern for this season was the OL, but Starkel gets the ball out faster than Hicks did so it helps them out a lot. O'Grady is one of the best TEs in the conference and Burks/Knox at WR are both really talented freshmen who should only improve. Then Boyd is dangerous at RB but I'm still not sold on our depth there. Whaley and Hayden have been mostly disappointing.

The best thing about it is unless Boyd declares early for the draft, nearly all of them except for O'Grady should be back next year and we have blue-chip TE Hudson Henry redshirting this year ready to step in for him. Excited to see how our offense looks at that point.

We really need to improve on defense but we've had a lot of injuries on the DL and 3/4 of our starting DBs are sophomores so we're really young there. We came close to starting two true freshman DEs last week as well.
