Once we fire Barbee we will realize, just like after we fired Lebo, that the coach is not the problem. Auburn basketball = Vandy football

Lebo didn't have the resources that barbee has.

I find these blanket statements useless. Barbee is clearly a bad coach, his set plays are miserable, the player discipline on the court is laughable, the shot selection is worse. No one is suggesting that auburn needs to be the class of the sec, but to use your trite example, with the right coach even a vandy of whatever sport can find success.

And what are these resources? Our freshman class has a very bright future. I really want to see what he does with them the next couple of years before canning the guy.

We haven't been relevant in basketball in 15 years, why the rush to fire the guy? We have been to the NCAA tourney a whopping 8 times! What next great coach wouldn't want to come to this dumpster fire?

Well, at least you have nice BB facilities which could potentially attract a top coach and players. That's more than I can say for us.

So if barbees trend keeps up, how many make it to the court/stay with auburn?

Becuase the past 3 have given you so much hope?

24-12 in 2008-2009. I wouldn't call that irrelevant.

why the rush to fire the guy

Because he's getting worse every year he's here.

or do you think losing to northwestern eastern middle of nowhere state (the game before the uga football game) is acceptable?

The obvious answer is pearl, but he wouldn't take the job, i'd offer it to seth greenberg, michael white, or really just about anyone. If like you say it's 'vandy football' and has no hope, then why not shake it up and try.

I'm tired of the 'but we've always sucked so lets just hope really hard that although the evidnece isn't there to support it this guy will make all of a sudden be a good coach' mentality.

Bruce Pearl will never be our coach.
Seth Greenberg did a great job at Va Tech and I would be glad to have him but who's to say he would come here?
Michael White's resume is not as good as Barbee's was before he got here but we are assuming he will do better?

This right here is why the SEC is such a terrible basketball conference. We accept mediocrity way too much.

College basketball success is heavily predicated on finding the right guy. You don't have to pay outrageous amounts of money to find a good basketball coach.

Hey we agree on something.

It's almost impossible to do worse. And that's where we're at. Accept how terrible it is, or at least hope that change will lead to success.

I agree with this, and at the risk of putting words in your mouth, i don't think it takes too terribly long to figure out when you didn't get the right guy.

Michael White was supposed to be our coach after we fired Kennedy last year, but we fricked up and snuck into the dance.

He can already do what barbee can't...beat northwestern state.

I've been checking into Greenberg. Why was he fired from Va Tech?

There are obviously some exceptions, like we felt like we had the right guy in Grant, but now it is obvious we were wrong.

Oh how many times we have said this about Barbee. Guarantee half will be gone come next season. Hell last year's freshman class was supposed to be the future and they are all gone

Because they believed they should be in the NCAA tournement more often.

A problem we could only hope to have.

Right...we felt we had the right guy in barbee (albeit he didn't really produce anything to justify that), time to move on to the next guy.

Vandy Football never did this...

Earl Bennett had some pretty awesome grabs. I would include Boyd's catches against UT and in bowl 2 years ago, but we'd started the climb out of the pit. From first hand experience AU basketball isn't there yet.
