in the 10-3 win over woeful Clemson in the opener. I bet they score 17 if SB4 played. Not sure he is the savior.

I've been saying this same thing, but UGA folks aren't happy unless they are miserable and griping.
Kirby Smart has had UGA nationally relevant more than any stretch other than 1980-1983, but they want to gripe about him.

People have let his end of last season (which was ok, but against some bad competition) convince them he is some great QB. We are going to beat Michigan and then Bama with Bennett or we are just not gonna win it all this year. We don’t have a Tua/Young/Hurts on the bench to bring in. We need to not abandon the run so quickly if we play you again. Stetson needs to stop trying to win the game by himself. Our defense needs to be more aggressive and violent. All this is true of us vs Michigan and I sure hope that’s what they are focused on.

According to Brooks Austin, this is Kirby's fault for not giving more reps to Beck and/or Vandagriff this year in garbage time.

Vandagriff was playing against 5’6” DBs this time last year at a tiny private school. He has lots of physical tools, but he isn’t any of those guys.
Beck just doesn’t seem like that guy.
We aren’t built like that and don’t need to be to win. Would it help? Well hell yeah, I’d love to have me one of those QBs, but we don’t right now.

But but but Brooks Austin disagrees with you, so you must be ignorant!

Never understood what the hype is about this guy. Seems like he throws a pick every time he comes in, even in mop-up duty.

The most popular football player is the QB sitting on the bench until he comes in and screws up.

I know better than to get involved with a back and forth with either DJ or Smokey, but I can't help myself with this one.
If you watched UGA's 2020 Covid season, you started with DWan Mathis, that lasted four games. Then you had Stetson Bennet, that was better but still sucked. Then the hotshit 5 star transfer came off the bench and lit it up. It didn't matter who the competition was, he threw pretty balls, he had George Pickens receiving at a high level, Darnel Washington to dump off, the offense as a whole went to a different level with that gunslinging. We only got to see it for the last 1/3 of the season.
So, understandably, we had high hopes in the offseason coming into this season. It wasn't disney or delusion, he legitimately looked like "the guy" we had been missing at QB for so long. And as DJ says, he had the stats to back it up, although a small sample size.
We'll never know how JT would have led this 2021 Georgia team because he aggravated some muscles around his shoulder and back and whatnot and couldn't play very much. I think more will come out about this in the future.
But the OP is correct, JT did not play well vs Clemson. But the next few games he played in limited time, he did indeed light it up like a video game. That's what lit the flame of the JT Nation people when Stet had to come in and also started lighting it up.
And here we are. This chapter of UGA football is still being written.

You were the one that was way wrong about uga AGAIN, so you should keep quiet. Your uga takes are always so bad.

22/30 isn’t bad, but let’s not ignore all of the juicy context.

A) he didn’t light it up. In 3 SEC games he had 1 good stats game, one average stats game and 1 bad stats game, against some pretty terrible Ds.
B)Look at production of the QBs before and after him in the USC system compared his numbers. The tale tell signs of him not living up to the hype were there to see.
He’s a decent QB that was overhyped twice. Saban would have at least gotten Beck or Vandergriff (whatever the 5 star freshman’s name is) instead of the band aid Bennett.
