quote:I was told that he was transfering to Alabama in middle Sept. by a golfing buddy of mine (retired prosecutor out of Pensacola), who is a huge FSU supporter/insider. Hell, when he told me, I'd never heard of the kid. He said that it was almost certain to happen, even back in Sept.
Bama fans always believe they know what's going on. I can promise you that if he had already decided to transfer, FSU would already know about it.

Coker has yet to step foot on campus at Bama I realize that but this article proves from all accounts that he has the same potential
There is an article on TomahawkNation.
About how Jimbo struggled for days with the decision. There is a youtube video of him announcing it.....and he doesnt seem "at ease" about it.
Jameis just lit it up when he had the opportunity.
To be fair though. THis is similar how it was to AJ vs. Phil Sims. Both were great throughout practice. AJ looked better when getting the first opportunity. Sims transferred and got lost in the shuffle. Dont think that happens with a smart kid like Coker. But sometimes losing out on a job can throw you off track.

And I'll add for those wondering why he didn't transfer then, it's because he has to graduate in order to play right away and have two years of eligibility left. Otherwise he would have to had sat for a season.

Free Shoes fans are retarded. Before the year they all think Coker is going to be the starter even though I said no way in hell. Now that rumors are around that Coker may come to Alabama they say Sean Maguire is better anyway . Clowns man.

He's talked at length to A J McCarron (his predecessor and friend at St. Pauls H.S. in Mobile) and the staff at FSU are totally aware of the situation. Certainly they'd like to see him change his mind, but nobody can blame him if he does.

I said "knows" in quotation marks. Do you honestly think Coker is going to stick around?

Your comparison to the McCarron/Sims QB battle was spot on, and I'd bet a dollar to a stale donut that CNS was made aware long before the sims transfer hit the news.

Not just that, but nearly every loser of a big QB battle usually transfers within a year.

Holy, shite. You mean to tell me the FSU staff knows he could transfer!?!?!
There's a pretty big difference between could and will. No one knows if he will transfer.

Let me put it in a way that you'll probably understand it.
At this point, he's made his intentions known to the proper people. If, before he transfers, he should change his mind, then he'll stay and nobody would be the wiser...simple enough.

I'll wait...

Did you not read the full article ?
The coach was implying that the best QB does't always win the job if it's a tight race, but the QB who is least likely to DIVIDE the team LOSES the job.......
Hello !!!! seemed to me like he was saying J.W. won because if he had lost he would have divided the team.

"Jacob will be transferring to an SEC school and starting at QB this fall." as I said in September.
He has been contacted and targeted by several SEC schools including LSU and Alabama. He would be the second Quarterback from St. Paul's to start from Nick Saban.
He is very very good. I liked him in high school better than AJ. He is a bigger and better athlete than AJ and a great runner. It was a toss up between he and Jameis even at the end. He would have been put in a second when Jameis was struggling if he was healthy. He will be a great asset to whoever gets him. I hope it is not Alabama but he is a great kid, a great leader and will be a great QB if he stays healthy.
I am sure Satan will stop by Myrtlewood during his trip to the Senior bowl in a few weeks and try to seal the deal.

This is also 100% true as I said in September. The position coaches said he won the job and was the better choice but they were overruled by Jimbo.
The coach was implying that the best QB does't always win the job if it's a tight race, but the QB who is least likely to DIVIDE the team LOSES the job.......

REST OF THE STORY:
Jacob is was an outstanding basketball player, I think he was Mr Basketball or something his senior year for the state was in 10th grade when approached by St Paul's Football coaches and ask he he would like to play QB. Didn't have anyone else basically and knew he was great athlete and could run. He agreed, and ran the wing T his junior year and started throwing the all his Senior year.He was only a three Star but had actually only played QB a few years. Bama did show interest in him after the pro camp but it was late and he had already committed to FSU.
In a interesting side note, he was actually at the 2011 playoff game where Hueytown lead by Winston beat St Paul's, and talking with aka probably recruiting Winston after the game.
