quote:

“I’ve been around Bo a lot the last couple offseasons,” Palmer said on The JBoy Show. "Coming out of high school, Bo was among the best dual-threat quarterbacks. He lost at The Elite 11 Finals to Spencer Rattler. He was right there as one of the best quarterbacks in the country. I don’t think what people recognize is that his freshman year, his strength coach told me he was the top-5 fastest guys on the team in a 10-yard split. So what we haven’t seen from Bo Nix yet is just how electric he is as a runner.

quote:

“It’s because I think in that previous offense and system with Gus Malzahn — and they’ve had a lot of success there — I don’t think Bo was able to establish himself as a “pass first and then run” which is when the opportunities can present themselves and you can get in the open space. Designed runs can work but you’re also funneling the defense toward the run. It’s when everyone else is going vertical and the quarterback decides to take off that you see big runs. I think you’ll see more of those from Bo and see how athletic he is.”

Just think. He put up some big numbers on Kent State. And now he's the next Auburn Heisman winner.

Bo hype was an overreaction

This board's ranting about Bo being a liability was an overreaction

He's likely to end up a high quality but not elite SEC QB who holds a lot of records at Auburn. Goes without saying, but if he ends up a top tier but not all-time SEC QB - it means you're still pretty damn good.

I'm not getting ahead of myself

That said, his mechanics looked lightyears ahead of where they did under Gus, even against similar opponents

It's amazing what having a quality QB developer can do in one offseason

Bo is the next great in the long line of overhyped AU players, like Jeremy Johnson and company.

Fify too. AU played Akron.

What fun is that?

You’re probably right. Penn state will show us if he’s ready to be elite.

Kent State actually hung 69 points on Akron last year. So Bo actually didn't do as well as Kent State.

Not just that but Gus refused to let his QB's visit gurus in the off-season. He wanted total control over their "development."

For the past two years all I’ve seen from Pix is bailing out of the pocket and scrambling. So we’re going to see more of that?

I hope there are more designed runs for him. He's very athletic and could add another dimension to the run game.

This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.
