He has been successful against Gus, much more so than Kirby was. But this will be his biggest challenge yet, IMO. I don't think he's had a defense this thin in the middle in any of those contests. He'll be earning his paycheck if he's successful this year, for sure.

IMO the only great coaching job on that list is 2014 UGa. AU put 44 on Bama 2 weeks later. Too bad they gave up 55.

2013 FSU game, AU’s defense let him off the hook by caving on the last drive.

2015 UGa and 2016 Bama - Auburn was lead by Jeremy Johnson.

2 of those were against starting QB Jeremy Johnson and they don't count, so he's basically 1 for 2

Dejected from choking/being out of the title picture. Classic quit mode.

That offense would have struggled to put up points against Wyoming

Pretty good. 3 seasons at SEC schools, Pruitt has averaged giving up 239 yards and 11 points per game. And that's misleading because last year 9 of AU's points came off of TOs in Bama territory where AU could not get even 1 FD and had to kick a FG. So, it's really 8 points per game.

This year will be a bigger test: AU is better and Bama is seriously injured at LB.

One thing for sure, Pruitt does a much better job against CGM that Kirby whether he has Bama talent or UGA.

Yeah, and AU had dropped 3 in a row to UGA, just like they have dropped 3 in a row to Bama. So I dont think this AU team cares about the trends in these rivalries.

Pruitt vs AU with SEC defenses at UGA and Bama.

Held AU under season average:
'14 UGA - 193
'15 UGA - 95
'16 Bama - 258

3 year average - 182

This year AU averaging 520, so 182 below would be 338. Either team could win with that.

Yeah, but Pruitt held them down much more. Average 182 below season avg for 14-16, including 258 below season average at Bama last year.

Main thing is he is much better than Kirby at stopping spread type Os, IMO, all Os. Part of that is that Bama has changed its defensive philosophy, primarily with player's physical characteristics. Also, Pruitt has simplified things and adapts better to his personnel.

Gus is at his best when he has a power run game from spread techniques. A lot of spread philosophies employ quick line quick backs (chip Kelly). Gus can't play that game. He needs a decent run threat at QB with a power back. He has that this year.

If Alabama can put a decent LB in the middle, it should be an epic IB. If not, Jalen better be ready to convert on 3rd down or it could get out of hand. Or it could be a 2014 type game.

If this guy is starting at linebacker I'll feel a lot better about our chances.

It seems to me that auburn is going all in on this game and have spent a bunch of the money they assume they have won.

Remember, Nick Saban still has that horse shoe up his arse.

I like our chances...
