Just got out of the #RollTide media viewing period at football practice. I did not see DC Jeremy Pruitt.
I thought he was coaching Bama in the playoffs?

Is this going to be a repeat of last year, getting rid of a coordinator in the playoffs?
If so, then I expect Saban to address this in the offseason. There has to be a better way to handle coaching transitions.

That's correct. December 18 he's back
on the job at Bama.

As long as Saban was there, nothing else matters

Was expected as he is recruiting for the Vols until the dead period.

Out 'cruitin' for the Vols. Maybe trying to flip a Bama recruit or two ... who knows.

I've never understood why fans don't quite get that Saban does the right thing by his staff. Sure he's an a-hole to everyone else but he likes seeing his coaches succeed (most good coaches do). It's also good policy since hires know the boss man will work with them when the time comes to step up.
A lot of folks forget that Fulmer was cool with Cutcliffe leaving early to get started with his job. Say what you will but both Saban and Fulmer know how to manage people and it's led both to HOF success.

Saban caught him shopping for trailers online.

He is but Bama can't/won't take every croot on their hot board nor will Pruitt pull in a mega class his first year (the shortened recruiting cycle/early signing period makes all that pretty impossible). Also, the rumor on our end since he was hired was that Pruitt dislikes pretty much every UT recruit on defense (despite their rankings) -- just doesn't see them fitting with his style. He's cut several that looked good on paper. So obviously I'm hoping he has some aces up his sleeve.
Also, OL needs immediate help so don't be surprised if we keep spots open for JUCO and grad student transfers. They changed the 25 rule yet again (no more backcounting) so there's incentive to fill every class even if you have to do it with warm bodies. Pruitt hasn't done that yet so I'm interested to see how he manages it.

How Alabama is filling Jeremy Pruitt's spot in practices before he returns | al.com

Eight of the nine Alabama assistant coaches were on the field when the Crimson Tide returned to practice Friday afternoon.
Noticeably absent was defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who coaches the middle linebackers.
The new early signing period that starts Dec. 20 changed the dynamic for new head coaching hires like Pruitt at Tennessee who juggle two jobs this time of year. The contact period ends Sunday and he'll be back to Alabama practice after that.
Until then, there's it's a group effort.
"We're all kind of filling in where we can," Nick Saban said Friday.
Former Alabama player Wes Neighbors, now an intern with the program, has worked under Pruitt all season. The grandson of Alabama legend Billy Neighbors leading the middle linebacker drills.
Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi is also helping with the middle linebackers.
The Tide has seven practices in Tuscaloosa before taking a break Dec. 23 for Christmas. The routine picks up in New Orleans on Dec. 27 before the Sugar Bowl with Clemson on New Year's Day.
Saban also said he was happy for Pruitt's opportunity to get the head coaching job in Knoxville.
"We'll do as much as we can to support him to be able to do what he needs to here to help our players and our team," Saban said. "I appreciate what he's doing to show the gratitude that he has for the players that worked for him all year to help have the success that helped give him the opportunity."
