Lol, if you can't accept that home-court in college bball (especially Auburn's) is an advantage then I can't have a logical convo with ya.. we'll find out more Saturday with a more even playing field between the two

Home court definitely makes a difference, but a great player doesn't disappear to the tune of 1/7 from the field with 0 assists, 0 steals, and 6 turnovers. That's more than just home court.
Waters has a tendency to disappear periodicall. Harper is a lot more consistent. Harper is calm, cool, collected, and never gets rattled. Perfect temperament for a floor general. I couldn't see Waters staying calm after going down early against Duke and going for 22 points for example.

I imagine Jared Harper and Colin Sexton were fun to watch as high school teammates. Did anyone see them play together?

Ehhh you bring up some points but right now Mr cool, calm, collected Harper is the floor general of a 4-4 team in conference play while Tre is the floor general of a 7-1 team in conference.. and Auburn has lot at least 2 games in conference that they shouldn't have where Harper did not play well.. like I said, we'll find out more on Saturday

Its true that little cold streak likely cost us a chance at repeating as regular season champs, but Harper is the last one to blame for that. He really only played bad vs Ole Miss, and in the 7 games since then he's averaging 17.6 ppg and 5.9 apg.
Last season Tennessee started 4-3 while Auburn started 9-1. Yea, the McLemore injury is ultimately what allowed them to catch us, but we had already been cooling off anyway. If last season taught me anything it's that I would rather get hot at the right time as opposed too early on and cool off when it really matters. Last week really restored a lot of confidence IMO and I have a feeling we're about to heat up again (knock on wood). Wiley should be back tonight for at least a handful of minutes, so we'll see how he looks and how his presence affects things. He likely would have made the difference against UK and SC as those are both very physical teams who killed us in the paint on both sides of the floor.
But yea, I'm expecting a good game this weekend. I don't Waters matches up well vs Auburn, but this time around y'all actually have other options and it's at y'alls place, so I'm expecting a close battle.

Point Guards - Offensive Rating (KenPom)
1. Jared Harper (JR) (AUB) (120.1)
2. Jordan Bone (JR) (VOLS) (119.5)
3. Tyree Crump (JR) (UGA) (116.5)
4. Breein Tyree (JR) (MISS) (114.5)
5. KeVaughn Allen (SR) (FLA) (111.4)
6. Kira Lewis (FR) (BAMA) (110.5)
7. Lamar Peters (JR) (MSU) (109.8)
8. Jordan Geist (SR) (MIZ) (109.6)
9. Tremont Waters (SO) (LSU) (105.9)
10. Saben Lee (SO) (VAN) (105.7)
Yeah, that's close to the order I would take the SEC point guards (with exception of not having seen Crump/UGA play enough to have an opinion.)
Basically I could flop a coin between taking Harper or Bone first -- both fit the style of play of their respective teams so well.
Waters can be just as electric as Harper and has incredible games but makes aLOT more boneheaded plays -- and I'm not just thinking of that disastrous hot dog pass attempt that let the game slip away against Arkansas --- which is why his KenPom rating is so low.

I've watched both a ton and had an opinion before the game but now that I've seen both head to head in person, I'm even more convinced that waters is better. Harper is awesome and the sec has great guards. Waters is just a rare playmaker.

MIN FG 3PT FT FT REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
Jared Harper -

MIN 36 | FG 5-17 | 3PT 4-10 | FT 5-6 | REB 3 | AST 10 | STL 3 | BLK 0 | TO 2 | PF 0 | PTS 19
I'll take Waters. I'm biased though.

The difference between the two IMO is that Waters is a more pure point guard than Harper. In the half court offense, Waters continuously broke down the Auburn defense with dribble penetration, whereas Harper tended to stand around in the half court offense of Auburn.
Harper is a deadly shooter. But for overall game, Tremont is better.

Both are great college players, but neither is someone you'd take over many PG's. I take the kid at UK in a heart beat. I thought Waters played well and Harper did what he normally does...Harper can't play D for all 5 positions or defensive rebound, those two issues affected the game more than either PG.
