From $260k base at New Mexico State to $2.4 million. $640k in incentives available.
"I grew up in a trailer park in a small town," he said at his press conference. He'll fit in well at State. He had a nice introductory press conference today.

I think with all of his incentives he made around $600,000 this year.
2.4 - 3 million is still a nice raise.
He is in his early 50's and I fully expect him to be at State for a long time providing he has some success.
Ben Howland was there 7 years with one tournament appearance. That wasn't good enough but it took them 7 years to exhaust the support.
State actually has some good players now and with the portal you can fill holes quicker these days and with the renovations at the Hump, things could be looking up.

Hilarious. He’s gonna go 0-8 vs Arkansas and get fired in a couple years. He will be laughing all the way to the bank. Y’all straight up got ripped off.

State and Arkansas will continue to split their series like always.

Arkansas under Muss went 2-3 against Ben Howland, including losing by 13 this season.
But sure, why not.

Why? You are not getting a decent coach without spending some $$$ these days and this guys is a good coach.
There were three G5 coaches on the radar for SEC schools and all three landed jobs in the SEC. Golden went to Florida, McMahon to LSU and Jans to State.
Some think State made the best hire of the 3 but others don't. The proof will be in the results but for now, I like the hire.
What makes them idiots?

Have you seen our recruiting? Muss is about to have the best talent in the conference by a lot and will be returning dynamic experienced players. He’ll also be stealing other teams best juniors and seniors year in and year out like he’s already doing.
I don’t think you guys understand how fricked you are.

Notae had Covid but agree dumb to make this thread about Arkansas.
I struggle to think these new mid-major guys do well out of the gate with NIL/HS with the exception of Golden at UF. Could see Jans being very successful with the transfer route though

2.4/year puts him almost at the bottom of the SEC. If we're looking at market rate for a new hire, paying a new coach 2.4 isn't dumb. It's average to below average.
The lowest paid coach in the conference this season was Stackhouse at 2.23MM/year. Next lowest was Howland, who State fired, making 2.7/year.

Every basketball thread on this board is an Arkansas thread until further notice.

Weird
#2 - Arkansas (#6, #18, #57, #85, #88 ranked players incoming)
#3 - Alabama (#11, #17, #49, #58 ranked players incoming)
Kentucky (#7, #8 ranked players incoming)
Wow, SO MUCH more talent! Insane! The gulf is as wide as the Pacific!
Backspin from regular season bragging/bravado to tournament talk in 3.....2.....1......

Alabama will be closer talent wise than others but your coach can’t coach. Waste of talent. They will probably end up transferring to Arkansas anyways. Reality sucks sometimes.

George what are your thoughts on having zero kids from Alabama? I think it lends to our identity as a team to have so many in state kids.

And yet, he beat Arkansas this year again. Just like Ben Howland did. And Jerry Stackhouse. And Rick Barnes.
But tell us more about going 37-0 against everyone or whatever, again.

Sometimes Muss throws games to help more SEC teams make the tourney. Fact.

I tend to think LSU/Florida/State made safe gambles.
UGA/USC/Mizzou...well they can't really get much worse.
I don't see anyone of those schools backtracking and feel at worst they trend sideways.
