To be fair, who wouldn’t run from Stet the Jet?

Dude I saw him in the top 15 of some mocks when he first transferred. What a doofus.

To be fair, dude is rated as a 2nd or 3rd round pick coming from Wake Forest and immediately goes undrafted after having UGA tagged to his name.

Hopefully for these healthy opt guys this will be a fair warning. You cannot exclude an entire season of play when these NFL scouts need that to determine your value to their team.
His inner circle should really be ashamed of have advised him of opting out.

Do we still think he just opted out two weeks before the season? So the agent issues rumored weren’t the real reason he and UGA parted ways?

Transferring for your final season if you’re already an established starter playing well at any P5 or even American or upper half Mountain West program is really stupid.

Media proclaimed he'd be the best qb in the SEC last year.

He was overhyped. The WF tape never really showed a 1st round QB. He was a solid college QB though and could’ve helped UGA navigate the early part of the season.

This is probably a true statement. But in fairness, he lost all (or most) of his WRs from Wake. Had he played at UGA and done well against SEC competition it would have solidified and probably helped his draft position. What really hurt him was not playing.
Opting out will always be a good decision for some and a poor decision for others. It didn't seem to hurt Ja'Marr Chase. He was an established proven talent. Newman? He needed to prove himself in a tough league, and didn't.

Russell Wilson did, and it worked out well for him.

Yeah, and I’m sure it’s worked out for other guys as well.
That said, I’d bet there are more guys that play worse because they aren’t as familiar with the system, aren’t as familiar with their teammates and have to uproot their life outside the game.
