He connected with the family of a 7-year-old boy named Erick, who is battling cancer, through Alex's Lemonade Stand to fulfill their Christmas wishes during this past holiday season. Hurts learned over that time that the family of seven from Nottingham, Pennsylvania, was living in a two-bedroom trailer, so when he went to visit them, he surprised them with a check for $30,000 to put toward a new home.

Classy asf. Hate that we couldn't develop his passing skills earlier on in his career. Happy for his success.

Jalens dad has to be proud. Especially after how everything happened at Bama and how much class he handled it with

He really does seem to be a great human being. He has a really cool backpack story with a young kid too. Kid was apparently teased for a backpack he wore with Jalen's name on it. Jalen caught wind of the story and bought the same backpack and had the kid's name put on it.

That guy does some amazing things with his fame. Dude is pure class and a winner regardless of what happens on the football field. That is secondary.

Wow, more people with money should do stuff like this.

He’s a good guy but this Gift is a tax deduction. We all give in some way or another and we take deductions for it.

Taking time to go personally visit the kid isn't, though. And that's the sort of stuff Jalen has done time and time again.
He's one of those people who seems to have a gift for knowing and seeing the unfortunate who truly need a pick me up. And he almost always seems to do it.

It depends on how the gift was made. In the video, the check has a person's name on it. A gift over $15,000 to an individual is subject to a gift tax.

On a side note, isn’t it super annoying when an athlete’s dad is openly involved in their Kids career? Like the ball kids. Like we get it you’re proud but it gets to a point where they seem to crave the attention that their kid brings.

This and the deal with the kids name on his back pack. He seems like a really good, well raised young man.

Lol it's not like he saves more than the value of the gift on his taxes. He's still giving up about $20k.
If you're going to be so cynical at least be intelligent about it.

Jalen's dad is a high school football coach. Which is probably a big part of why he was so mature even as a true freshman and why he's handled himself so well.
I think we'll see Jalen back at Alabama in about 4-5 years as a GA and eventually a coaching role. He's the kind of guy you want around, and I bet he will be a great coach one day.
