He comes from money so that's not it. He has a chance to break the conference record for most hits. That is it. Period. He doesn't need the money and told MLB he is coming back. That is what you call a college player playing for the love of the game and not draft money. I wish more would do so.

Yeah, I don't get that either. The Mangums are obviously not struggling, but no way they have so much that a 10 year MLB salary wouldn't make a difference.

It's not a Maverick McNealy situation. Golfer at Stanford. His father, Scott McNealy, co-founded Sun Microsystems, which was acquired by Oracle Corporation for $7.4 billion in 2010. THAT kid doesn't need the money

He's not playing for money because he has money. Yet you wish more college players would do like this kid and play for love of the game. Most kids can't.
I bet you take away his family money and this kid goes pro too.

That's called a college player drafted in the 32nd round (lower than he was last year) that's not going to be offered much money. It made his decision a lot easier.

And that's called letting teams know his status and mindset well ahead of the draft

ok, then why did he wait until after the draft to announce he was staying? It's ok dude. He's an awesome college player but he just doesn't have the measurables that pro scouts drool over. Had he been a sought after prospect, he'd be leaving. Raph Rhymes hit .431 and was only drafted in the 30th round back in 2012 and returned for his senior season. It happens. But it has little to do with his "love of the game." Had teams been willing to spend money on him, they would have or would have at least made him tell them no. He has zero leverage next year. Even as a top 10 round pick he'll get >$10k to sign. He may love State, but he's not stupid.
