How did this young goon not get scooped up by an SEC team

Tech told him he was their top RB on the board and the SEC schools were concerned about his lack of top end speed.

We tried but Greg Knox is a garbage recruiter. In fact, when he visits our recruits, I have more confidence that they’re going elsewhere.

Circumstances worked against him pretty heavily.
Alabama and Georgia were both after him, but had bigger targets and kept him at arms length. Alabama flipped Jase McClellan from Oklahoma and so they were out and Georgia waited on the Evans train until after signing day, so they were out.
At that point, Gibbs, who I think has Tech folks in his household, stuck with his commitment to Tech. He's a stud.

It's a damn shame, its his 2nd game and he's already the best player on that shite team.

They will have a very nice backfield in a year with this QB to go with him

Absolutely
Collins will have their talent at a decent level by next season. No reason Tech shouldn't be a 7-8 win a year team in that league with the players available to them within 5 hours drive.

I know LSU was after him. After the Zach Evans debacle LSU went full court press for Gibbs but I just assume he wanted to go to the school that was after him the whole time

He is an idiot.

I remember watching him a couple times on GPTV and thinking he was criminally under rated.

Not everybody wants to play in the SEC. If you good you good no matter where you play and will be discovered.

That's somewhat true but you do want to go to a place where you can be developed into something better. LSU would be good for that, Bama maybe ... Georgia maybe ... That being said, if he is really good, then maybe he doesn't want the contact that he'll get in the SEC ... he'll have plenty of time for that in the NFL.

That's a good point. But remember sometimes great talent can sometimes get stacked up behind great talent and sit on the bench waiting your turn (and there is certainly nothing wrong with waiting your turn) whereas you can go to a school where you can play immediately and be a star and still get to the nfl. Remember if you are good you good no matter what conference you play in. The Sec has more elite players but Jahmyr Gibbs is no matter if he plays or Lsu or Alabama or Georgia Tech or Citadel and will more than likely playing in the Nfl.

Seems like everyone recognized that he was an incredible talent by the end of his senior year. I know I was rooting hard for LSU to pull him, and all the big names were on him late.
I need to tune into some GT games this year to watch him.
