I don’t think he’s going anywhere soon...unless that Texas job opens up again

Me too, but obviously the media isn't. Besides, it always causes a little "heart pain" for some folks around here to hear him say it.

Excellent. I have always hoped he'd stick around long enough for the Bama fan base to turn on him.

Good feel good morning news from the Goat.
He'll break the National Championships tie with The Bear & put some distance between them next 10 years.

Tbh, what else is he going to say? I expect he'll be around several more years, but at no point would I expect him to announce ahead of time he will be retiring. I would hope not anyway.

Yeah, his ego will have him coaching too long.

Part of me thinks that he was 2 or 3 years left until he retires, and part of me thinks he will die with a headset on.

I'm curious on how his tenure will end. I'm full aware that he's always said he'll hang it up when he's ready and he feels that he isn't giving it his 100% all anymore. what I mean is, I wonder if he'll retire:

1) On top after winning another natty, and be like 'yep, I've accopmlished what I wanted so I'm good to walk away now'

2) On a downslope, where maybe they lose a couple games a few years in a row and he says 'ya know maybe I'm not giving this the effort it deserves so maybe it's time to hand it to someone else'

It's actually an incredibly stupid question to ask him. He may, in his own mind, plan to retire after this season but he would never publicly say that at this time.

1. No coach ever does this. If they win another championship then they think "why should I retire? Im winning championships".

2. This is always how it ends. Think Bobby Bowden. Bowden said he wanted to retire on top but of course he wouldnt have quit if he was on top. THe number of coaches who truly walked away from the game is very small

Saban will quit when Miss Terry tells him to. And not a second sooner or later.

I don’t understand why someone in his late 60s who’s worth tens of millions would still want to work 100 hours a week in a pressure cooker. I guess it just has to be in your DNA that there’s pretty much nothing else you care about but football.
