I’m not 100% on this but I heard he just had enough and was ready to retire. I actually think I heard that on the pregame show yesterday?

I was just a kid then and assumed he was old. Funny, because I'm less than ten years younger now than he was then.

Had one of those jobs where it was impossible to please everyone in replacing a legend there. Did a good job and had just had enough.

I don't think anyone, anywhere at any time has done a better job replacing a legend than what Joe B Hall did during his tenure at Kentucky. And to do what he did, in the manner he did, with Indiana and Louisville both going full speed ahead with Bobby Knight and Denny Crum.....frankly Joe B hasn't gotten his due.

RIP Coach. We know you were shining down on that Tennessee whipping. Some things will never change.

For the same reason that Rin Meyer left SMU and Pete Carroll left USC... he knew the NCAA had UK in their sights.
