It's crazy how much Auburn and Malzahn's offense relies on the Quarterback

With the right Quarteback, they will be National Championship contenders. Without the right Quarterback, they will be just another team.

-Newton wins the NC in 2010, then Auburn sucks for 2 years without a QB(I know Malzahn wasn't HC, but it was his Offense).
-You get Nick Marshall in 2013, go to the national championship. 2014 was a rough year with Marshall, but they were ranked in the top 5 deep into the season.
-Then you have Sean White for 2015 and 2016, and they suck in 2015 and are a good but not great team in 2016. -Then in 2017 they get Stidham and are competing for a NC again.

The craziest thing about it to me is that the 3 successful QB's are all completely different Quarterbacks. Newton was the power runner, Marshal the finesse runner, and Stidham the game managing Play Action passer.

One thing is for sure, Malzahn doesn't recruit QB's to fit the system, he fits the system around the QB. He signs a Mac Truck running QB with a cannon in Newton, then when he comes back in 2013 he signs an ex cornerback converted to QB in Marshall, then he goes to the Cam Newton wannabe in Jeremy Johnson, then he signs the pro style non mobile white boy in Sean White, then he goes to a track athlete pretending to play QB in JF3, then back to a balanced passer in Stidham.

He's got that offense rolling this year, I'll give him that.

Really, it's basically the same for anyone.

What was the last great team that won a NC or SEC championship with a bad QB. I will hang up and listen

I see where you are going with the logic but Gus was the head coach at Arkansas State in 2012.

Depends on how you define "bad" QB.

LSU won the SEC and played for a national title with Jordan Jefferson, who most on this board would not consider good.

Yeah, one of my biggest gripes is our offense isn't geared more towards the fullback.

This is true of every CFB team except bama...even bama has had some great QB's lately.
