It's been four years but LSU's loss to Bama in 2014 still blows my mind

How the hell do you recover a fumble on the opposing team's seven yard line in a tie game with only 1:13 left to go and still lose the game? LINK

Oh yeah, that's right. LSU commits an ill-advised 15-yard penalty, doesn't run much time off the clock or score a TD and kicks the ball out of bounds which allows Bama to get into field goal range to kick a game-tying field goal. LSU ends up losing the game in overtime.

We still had les miles who gave a scholarship to a shitty kicker, third and Chavis, and Bama got helped from the refs on that 15 yard penalty that was bullshite. Yea I said it the refs....

On his podcast Les Miles said the ref later apoligized to him for that call.

Ah. I didn't even remember this game until this post. Three months of fans bitching that putting your hands on a player's chest and shoving him hard right in front of the official wasn't unsportsmanlike conduct. What a tedious three months that was.

Wow I'm shocked...yet another LSU thread started by a gump. Y'all going for a record today? Only 90 more minutes to get a few more in before midnight.

Somehow I didn't lose hope in that one

In 2012 I thought we were DONE. I was coming to terms. Then we pulled it out of our arse

After 1/9/12, I don’t know how LSU fans survived the 2012 and 2014 regular season losses. Kudos for not giving up on football.

Is Miles still at LSU if he wins one or both of those games?

The 2014 Bama game still hurts. No where near 2012 or 1/9 but still hurts

It never hurts to beat Bama but Aub seems to be the bigger benchmark for LSU coaches over the years. That 2016 loss did him in.

Miles was 8-4 against Auburn.

May have been straw that broke camel's back but if Lester beat Bama in 2015 his seat wouldn't have been so hot in the first place.

Curley may be the only LSU coach ever remotely fired for failing to beat Auburn. But it was Southern Miss that finally did him in for good.

Cholly Mac and Les Miles were fired for the same reason. Couldn't keep pace with Bama and hadn't beat Bama in years.

Ey man Les is a good man tho.

Also say what you will about the shrimp boat capt. Two years in a row he managed the final moments of the Auburn games to a win. No doubt we lost those games with Les in those situations. Plus Gus is dumb....

I'll tell you how I handled it....I got blackout drunk by halftime. The ending of that game doesn't resonate emotionally with me.
