19 years plus 2 days have elapsed since the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss blanked the bleeding vaginas of Alabama. Let us celebrate this belated achievement.
Some interesting points of note in the series:
The last time Alabama shutout Southern Miss was 1993, a game that Alabama later forfeited for cheating.
The prior shutout was 1974. That was before the Bicentennial. Southern Miss got their latest this century.
Alabama lost many games in 2000, but only got shutout twice. The other opponent: War Damn Eagle!
The 1993 forfeited game wasn't the only instance of cheating. Alabama also vacated their 2005 win. Clearly, the cheating wasn't quite as egregious.
The Golden Eagles embarrassed Alabama two years in a row in 1953 and 1954, the former being exactly 66 years ago today.
Southern Miss has six wins in the series. They have only five over Auburn.
Anybody who has watched Alabama's four games this year can attest that their defense is shaky at best. It could be because of the four freshmeat blue chips on the front, or it could be a bigger underlying problem. One thing is certain though. The bleeding vaginas will drop at last a couple more games this year. Can the Golden Eagles be the first to strike blood?

I remember sitting at the dinner table and hearing my dad yell at the TV while our abortion of a football team got blanked by Southern Miss. I refused to go in there and share in his misery. I never watched a single minute of that football game until it appeared on YouTube some months back.

Going back a little further in history, USM beat Alabama in 1982, right after LSU and before Auburn. This run caused the Bear to quit. Is a win this weekend how we begin the process of getting rid of Mini-Me?
